Blog for Friday 18th October 2024

I was up before five, (I was awake earlier but lay in bed for a little longer, just because I could) and this morning nothing was strewn around our bedroom or on the floor because of me and my flailing arms during dreams. I believe that I behaved myself last night.

Once up, I fed my starving feline, made my coffee and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time before starting my tidying up spree.

I wanted to do a good clean as I will be off to look after Mariaan’s home this coming Thursday, so would like our home neat and tidy before I leave.

I cleaned windows, moved furniture, swept, mopped, dusted and polished. Plus, I baked a chocolate sponge cake for teatime tomorrow when the Soden family are coming to spend the day with us on the farm.

Ken attempted to get the lawn mower going, but it was just too hard and the fan belt kept coming off, so I told him to leave it for today. He brought the tractor up to lift the mower up so that he could see underneath the mower, but it was so hot outside that I told Ken to come inside and have a rest rather than get heat stroke out there.

By that time, I had worked up a serious sweat whizzing around on my broomstick, so I hopped into the shower to cool off.

I know I must be really, very impatient as I am sent an awful lot of lessons to teach me patience. Now, the latest one is that certain keys on my laptop are not working – well, they work but one has to go back and press them hard for them to record! The worst one is an ‘s’ – and I had no idea how often I need that particular letter, but … now I know!

Often!

Today has been a lovely day a little warmer than yesterday, but earlier this morning I got a chance to try out my Oodie, and it is absolutely fabulous! Soft, fluffy, cuddly and toasty warm. Just beautiful. I now join some of the other Oodie owners like Ren’, Tamryn, Matt’ Josh’, Ethan, and Mich’ in our family. I am moving up in the world!

Tonight, I think I will grill some steaks with maybe fried eggs - as our one little black hen is laying at least one egg a day now. Bless her feathers! Maybe I will roast small blocks of potatoes too. I will check with my man what he feels like eating first.

I was going to try to squeeze in a moment for me to sit and maybe do a little reading today, but …that did not happen. Maybe tomorrow?

Thinking about the little black hen laying eggs for us – they are the deepest yellow almost an orange and they certainly helped my sponge cake to come out nicely today. So, some more blessings for her and her egg laying ability.

What lesson did I learn today? More patience via the ‘s’ on my keyboard!

What am I grateful for today?  The beautiful day.

My saying for today is …
