Well today, it is a very Happy Birthday to Ren’ – our daughter-in-law today for her 53rd birthday and for our youngest granddaughter Sinead, (we have five granddaughters and six grandsons) who turns 18! We pray that that both Ren’ and Sinead have a really lovely and special day.
I was up long before four o’clock this morning - I fed Shamara and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time. I am trying so hard to keep up with the daily chronological Bible Study readings (a course that runs for two years), but yoh, some days it is hard! At the moment I am up to date, but I have to put in the hard yards to do so. I do the transcript of the reading and the notes each day as I can then file those notes and use them when I need to refresh my memory. Mich’ is doing this course with me- or rather, I am doing it with her as she found the course for us, but she really has a battle to try and fit everything into her day, and that is why I am happy to take down all the notes, so she can catch up and read them when she is able to.
There are seasons in one’s life when one has to learn to juggle things successfully – being an employee, wife, mother, home keeper, renovator and all that and more! And then there are seasons where one has more time to do things you really want to do. I am in the latter season of my life now!
This morning Ken and I left the farm at about half past eight – or maybe even before that, as Ken had to get the ute’ in for a service and I was to drive in too or else Ken would have to sit around twiddling his thumbs waiting for the service to be completed.
Once we were in Wauchope, I went to pick Ken up, but our mechanic had hurt his back yesterday and he had phoned Ken this morning to tell him not to come in, but Ken was driving and already on his way into town. Our mechanic had to cancel all his work for today so Ken will have to go in again on Tuesday – and I guess I will too.
Once home, Ken headed off with Raafie to have a siesta and I went up to my studio to do some studying, answering emails, send ecards and listen to my book, which I am loving so far. It is very different – a novel, and written by an author I have not read before. A nice change for me.
Ken and I had lunch in town so I doubt he will be hungry tonight, so we can just have something light – scrambled eggs and bacon on toast or something like that. Maybe cheese and biscuits. But I am still not feeling that grand so will just sip coke – that is the only thing that settles my tummy when I am off color.
I went to sleep smiling as it was so lovely just drifting gently off to sleep.
What lesson did I learn today? To always have a Plan B.
What am I grateful for today? That Ken and I had a gentle day in town together.
My saying for today is …
