Blog for Friday 29th November 2024

I only rolled out of bed just after five o’clock this morning and eventually got up to my studio at about twenty past five! Shoo, must be slowing down or something!

Shamara, bless her four paws did not tell me off, but she simply waited patiently for me to fill her bowl up. Her silence was louder than had she been shouting!

I did my Bible Study, so still am to date, and then I went over my notes for our Bible Study Group this morning.

We normally have Bible Study Group on a Wednesday, but this week was awkward as too many people had appointments or had something else on this Wednesday, so we moved it to today. There were only six of us out of the normal nine, but we had a really, good morning together. Good discussions and input which is always worth the time we spend together.

I phoned home when I was leaving Sandra and Noel’s so someone in our family here could pick me up and get me across the river. Paddy came to fetch me. “Thanks Paddy!”

Once we got home, Ken was having his siesta, but Paddy and I had paté on toast for our lunch – kindly made by Paddy! Tamryn wanted to finish painting her container before the rain got here, so she said she would rather miss having lunch.

Once Paddy went off to continue his fencing, I put on loads and loads of washing and hung it out. But at just before three o’clock the heavens opened and down fell the rain – just enough of it to thoroughly wet my washing that was almost bone dry, and me. I looked like a sucked mango pip by the time I got all the washing back inside! I had to dry my hair quickly before I traumatized anyone! Yes! I caught sight of me when I went into the bathroom, and I was really very scary!

We had 15.5mm in a few short minutes.

Tomorrow night we are having a ‘Sausage Sizzle’ in Bain Park in Wauchope – put on  by our church for the community and us ladies are to bring something for dessert that can be eaten easily. So, this afternoon I had a bash at making some Rocky Road which I thought would be easy to eat. If it turns out nicely, I  will make some for Christmas too.

Yoh! Today, although not as hot as yesterday, was nevertheless incredibly humid and so I made something light for our supper as one does not really feel that hungry in this heat. I cooked some boerewors (South African sausage, the recipe of which our butcher has now got down to perfection!) I also cooked some caramelized onions, and we had that on brioche bread rolls – with tomato or barbeque sauce.

Everyone retired to their respective bed pronto to read,  to watch or to listen to something on their phones and then go to sleep.

It had been a good day.

What lesson did I learn today? To move more quickly when I hear the rain beginning to fall!

What am I grateful for today? The rain.

My saying for today is …
