Blog for Friday 3rd January 2025

Wow! Three days into January 2025 already!

After my Quiet Time and Bible Study time I went downstairs to join Paddy and Tamryn for a coffee, but there they were tiptoeing around moving my old washing machine out and attempting to put the new one in place!

My washing machine began to shred everything that went into it and so I could not use it at all and the dirty washing was mounting up quick smart. Our children very kindly bought us a new washing machine – an absolute beauty and Paddy and Tamryn picked it up for us yesterday.

Once Ken and Paddy had installed this new washing machine I could have sat there and just watched it! I get a bit like that with a new appliance – I really am so excited about it! Oh, and there are so many excellent qualities to this machine, but the one I love the most is that it has a 39 minute washing program and it washes the clothes beautifully in that time and spins them almost dry! And with so much washing to be done that was a major plus!

Once the washing machine was installed Paddy walked down to the bottom shed and continued his good work of sorting out that shed – which to me would be an absolute nightmare to tackle., but he is working wonders.

Tamryn resigned herself to a day of sleeping, reading, listening and resting with Raafie snuggled alongside her.

Ken got up and dressed and left for Port Macquaire mid-morning, to take in all the old tins and get some money back for them. That being one of the many results of Paddy cleaning up down at the bottom shed.

I spent almost the entire day ironing, washing, tumble drying – as we had the odd showers of rain pass over us so I could not hang anything outside. Shoo! It was a nice feeling to be getting on top of all that.

Our new washing machine (at the bottom) knee deep in dirty clothes!

I also got to listen to my audio book while I did all that, so it was most enjoyable for me.

Ken only got ack home late – about five o’clock I think, and Paddy came up from his work in the bottom shed, so I made supper extra early as we were all tired.

We had chicken, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies with a cheese sauce for supper.

I think Paddy and Tamryn went to bed just after six o’clock to read and rest, Ken went to sleep without eating supper as he had been nibbling on the chicken as he carved it for me earlier, .and I crashed after I had spoken to Mich’.

As Ken had gone to sleep Paddy kindly fed the dogs for him and I am sure the dogs were grateful not having to wait long for their food.

What lesson did I learn today? As Dora said to Marlin in " Rescuing Nemo" - "Keep swimming ... just keep swimming ... swimming."

What am I grateful for today? Our new washing machine!

My saying for today is …
