The new day arrived without the company of rain or drizzle initially, but later we had the odd showers but luckily not as heavy or as often as we have had over the last few days.
Overnight we only had 6mm of rain which was good as the ground is absolutely saturated already. The river is still way too high for us to even dream about crossing. We will just have to enjoy our isolation for a few more days - that is if the rains stops.
I had my Quiet Time and today there was no Bible Study due so I could just choose a proverb for the day.
Then I got myself dressed and ready for the day, and after a second mug of coffee I allowed myself an hour of listening to my audio book, and while doing that I began to re-crochet the baby shawl edging that I undid the other day because I was not happy with a mistake I had spotted.
Yoh! sometimes I wonder why I just did not just turn a blind eye to that mistake and get on and finish the shawl, no one else would have been any the wiser! But then … I hear my Dad’s voice, “Gertie, if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well!” Dad always called me “Gertie” to my horror … and in company nog al! I was a giggler as a young girl, and so he nicknamed me “Giggling Gertie” and that name stuck! My one brother loved to yell out loudly “Gertrude!” when calling me, and preferably on the beach where we were surrounded by masses of our peer groups age who would recoil in horror at such a name! Brothers!
I went out to work in the main shed area but I could not - and I tried - move the heavier stuff in order to get to the containers I want t work on. I will have to wait for Ken to help me in order for me to make a start.
So, I worked on the containers this side - filling up the ‘Knitting’ one and the ‘Art’ one too. I re-arranged the two art containers so that I have the materials - brushes, sponges, water bottles, and water colors in the one container and the books and papers in the other one. It is just easier for me to get what I want if I arrange them like that. Mmmm, I think I need to rearrange my sewing containers too - embroidery and quilting in one and sewing things and fabrics in the other one.
Soon I am going to be so organized that I will scare myself!
I sent a text to my friend re-this Saturday trip to Bingara that the two of us are meant to be making, as I am not sure I will be able to get off the farm by then and just wanted to warn her of that possibility.
I have knitted ten baby jersey so far, so I decided to start an eleventh one (we have eleven grandchildren) this afternoon, because if we can get off the farm on Saturday I will have something to knit while we drive to Bingara.
For our supper tonight, I roasted a de-boned lamb shoulder and served it sliced on four cheeses ravioli, with peas, a tomato salsa and shredded cheese. A nice warm meal for a very damp evening!
What lesson did I learn today? More patience.
What am I grateful for today? That the rain is easing up. a bit.
My saying for today is …
