It was wonderful to wake up in my own bed this morning with Ken and Raafie fast asleep alongside me. It was four o’clock and I had slept like a log – probably snored my way through the night too!
It was good to be home.
After my Quiet Time I wrote out my grocery list and painted my nails - ready for the day ahead!
I think we left the arm at about half past nine this morning and headed straight into Port Macquarie for Ken’s appointment. I sat in the ute’ while Ken went in for said appointment. But … half an hour later Ken came out again - he had got the wrong day – his appointment is tomorrow and NOT today! Oh dear, well we had to get groceries anyway and we were there to do so.
But first we stopped to have a coffee and donuts to celebrate being in town on the wrong day! You just have to find the bright side of life, and donuts help!
While I was waiting for our donuts to cooldown – they had just come off the line and were steaming hot -I shot into Woolies to get some fresh noodles and some chicken livers. The chicken livers are for me to make liver patê for Christmas Day. I bought the livers now as they disappear so quickly. Yahee! For that!
Ken had to drop off a cheque at the cardiologist’s rooms, and then we made a quick stop at Spotlight as I needed another ball of wool for my baby shawl. Luckily, I got the same dye lot too!
We began to head towards home. In Wauchope we had to get diesel for the ute’, and I needed to get a few items in the Timbertown IGA, before we could really set sail for home.
It looked as if the farm was getting pounded by rain, and yet as we got closer and closer to home there was nary a drop of rain to be seen! Wonderful, as we had all the groceries on the back of the ute’ - out in the open! I did not need things like self-rising flour to get wet, or toilet paper, or kitchen paper towels and so on!
Well, I am delighted to inform you all that Ken and I got back home with no rain falling on said groceries in the back, but about twenty minutes after we had unloaded, and I had packed away things the rain began. I quickly listed the Farm Expenses for October as I had not been able to do them whilst I was away from home. “Sorry Ren’!”
Ken went to have his siesta not long after we got back home, and I went out and fed the guinea fowl and the chooks as they had not been fed yet today, poor feathered friends. That dear little black hen laid another three eggs today – she is keeping us in eggs daily, bless her.
The rain at moment, is falling steadily but not pelting down, it is just lovely gentle soaking rain.
Tonight, for our supper we will have a beef and pasta dish with a salad, and then to bed!
Shame, Ken will have to go into town again tomorrow, but I will stay home as there is still so much tidying for me to do. There is a LOT of washing that needs to be hung out, but it looks as we have a fair amount of rain coming over the next few days.
What lesson did I learn today? Check and double check the dates and times of Ken’s appointments with the specialist involved.
What am I grateful for today? Getting the chicken livers for my pate for Christmas Day.
My saying for today is …
