I woke up a bit later than normal again this morning, (seem to be making a bit of a habit of it these last two days!) and then had legs whirling frantically around like a windmill in my haste to get out of bed, slipping and sliding on the floor to get going at speed.
I had my Quiet Time and then once Tamryn was awake we had coffee and rusks together while we sorted out the world’s problems quick smart! It was so easy to do over coffee and rusks, honestly! You should try it!
Then Tamryn was off to her home on the hill to do some more work up there, and I hovered on my broomstick, then swished around on the mop, trying to restore some law and order in our home.
I had planned to bake and prepare something sumptuous and scrumptious for our friends who were visiting today, but that meant I would have had to do that yesterday. But … yesterday was my birthday and Ken persuaded me to go out to lunch with him instead. There was not too much of an elbow twisting happening because I agreed to go to lunch pretty darn fast!
Once I had the floor looking a little less muddy and paw marked, I hopped into the shower and then to get dressed.
As soon as I was dressed, I quickly began preparing the salads and meats for our wraps for lunch, because I hate working in the kitchen once guests/friends or family are here. I had almost finished doing that when Ken, Sue and David arrived.
They had first gone up the hill for Ken to how them the home that Tamryn is busy creating in a 40’ container for herself before coming in for morning tea.
It was so nice to catchup with them as we have not seen them for a while. Well, we saw them briefly last Sunday as they attended our church then. Apparently, Sue and David know the young guy, Nick, who preached that Sunday as our pastor, Tony was away up in Queensland for a week.
Sue apparently read my yesterday’s blog this morning, so she realized that I had had a birthday, so they brought me a lovely birthday card and a dear little indoor pot plant. Shoo! My spoiling continued on today!
It was the right sort of day to be inside actually, as it was windy and then squalls of rain would drift in. It was nice to be inside, warm, dry and chat as we chomped, sipped or sorted the world’s problems out together! (Must be the theme for today! Setting the world aright.)
We were sorry that David and Sue did not stay overnight tonight, but there is always another time. Preferably when we have all forgotten about the snake and that there have been no more home invasions by said reptiles!
When Ken had taken Sue and David across the river to their vehicle it was after four o’clock (I think, but I did not note the time), Ken came home to have his siesta, and Tamryn woke up and then decided to snuggle in bed and read her book as it was a mizzy sort of day.
I attacked the kitchen area as I had left it in a mess, but with a one-two-three it was soon clean, tidy and back to normal. Whoop-la-doeps!
Then it was time for me to write my blog and get ready for a quiet evening with just the three of us.
I think another early night will be a good idea.
Oh yes! Oh dearie me, just thinking of bed and night, apparently last night I attacked my poor husband as he lay innocently alongside me sleeping. He had to give me a bit of a hard shove to stop as I really was hurting him. How nasty am I I ask you with tears in my eyes? In my dream I was fighting for my life and so I was pretty, desperate to win. Shame, Ken had nail marks and a huge bruise on his inner arm from where his wife (yes, that is me!) attacked him. I seem to be getting more and more dangerous at night! Just now I will be banished from our bed!
For our supper we had a cottage pie (with extra mash on top) and peas – something simple, quick and easy with choccies or ice creams afterwards. While we waited to eat Tamryn and I played a couple of games of Bananagram and she thrashed me again - very annoying!
What lesson did I learn today? With a mug of coffee in one hand and a rusk in the other, one can become incredibly wise!
What am I grateful for today? The beautiful little pot plant that Sue and David gave me for my birthday and their visit to the farm today.
My saying for today is …
