Oops! I only got out of bed at five o’clock this morning, but it was because I had had a horrible night – initially, I battled to fall asleep (which is most unusual for me), and then I had such vivid dreams that I actually got up out of bed to try to break them! That did seem to help and the nightmares abated somewhat.
Paddy was first up after me, followed by Tamryn and then by Matt’ -much later on, and Ken stayed I bed for almost the whole day as he was not feeling that crash hot with his cold and cough.
I went up to my studio after feeding my forever famished feline and had my Quiet Time, .
I followed that with getting all my paraphernalia packed for my teaching in Sunday School tomorrow.
Paddy set out to do more fencing long before the rest of us were organised to do anything or nothing!
Tamryn and Matt’ headed up to the container to continue measuring and cutting – doing the framing for windows, doors and I guess walls too. I had planned on going up to see what they were doing but I was pretty busy down here today.
I finished my lesson for Sunday School and the handcraft stuff to go with it plus a few games should I need them.
Then I tackled the ironing and guess what? I am officially up to date – so have caught up with the backlog of washing and ironing from when I was away looking after my friend’s home and cat. Yoh! That was not such fun.
Shoo! It has been a fairly warm day today, and I see Paddy has got toasted out in the sun where he has been fencing all day. A tree branch also fell on his leg so that will be really ainah. He said he stopped speaking English for a short while when that happened, and he thinks he spoke Japanese! I thought that expressed exactly how he must have felt!
For lunch I put out the cold Chicken Chow Mein (which I really enjoyed like that) – and as you can see, we all survived that meal, and I will definitely make it again. Plus, I put out cold meats, salads, mayonnaises and wraps for those feeling like that rather for lunch.
Later, I peeled and chopped into little blocks several potatoes, which I will, after cooking them for a short while, roast in the oven with butter and garlic, and later just before serving will dust them heavily with grated Parmesan. I also cooked a bowl of mixed veggies and made a cheese sauce for those that like that combination. Paddy said he would braai the steaks on the outside fire tonight. Yahee!
Matt’ got the fire going, which was no mean task as there was a mean breeze blowing, and then later Paddy did the cooking – and to perfection too
Ah! My watch’s battery has run out, so I will have to get another one when in town next time. I miss having it on my wrist as I am so used to checking the time there! Never mind, just another lesson in patience for you, Gail Morgan!
Paddy has worked hard the whole day fencing … fencing … fencing! Tamryn and Matt’ came down at about two o’clock – they had been hard at doing the framing up there in the container. They then came down so Matt’ could unload Tamryn’s ute’ with her, and then to shower and a little later to watch the Mike Tyson boxing match. Tamryn headed off into Port Macquarie and Bunnings to buy more wood for their framing task.
In the early evening it was so nice to sit outside as there was a nice breeze blowing after the heat of the day, and nice to sit around the fire and chat as we watched the sun slide down the sky.
It had been another good day in my life.
Slowly the day leaked out and night began take over the sky, staining it with her inky, black fingers.
We all retired to our respective beds early.
What lesson did I learn today? More patience!
What am I grateful for today? Getting up to date with my ironing!
My saying for today is ….
