Blog for Saturday 9th November 2024

This morning, I was up bright and early as there was so much that I needed to do.

I had my Quiet Time accompanied by Felix who lay at my feet under the desk -      bless his four paws!

The first thing on my To Do List was to chop, slice and dice all the veggies for the vegetable soup I  was making for Mariaan and Tinus. Once that was done, I put the slow cooker on and let it slowly simmer throughout the day.

I washed the remaining bedlinen and hung it out to dry, then I began to sweep, mop and vacuum the entire home. Shoo, I worked up quite a sweat doing that, I can tell you!

Shame, Felix knows that something is happening, and he is not happy about it, so he hid in Tinus’ cupboard all day. I would go in and he would come up to me and purr, but he remained high upon the shelf, only coming down in the late afternoon. I wish I could explain to the little guy that his joy will soon know no bounds with Mariaan and Tinus arriving back home tomorrow!

In the afternoon I did all the ironing of the bedlinen. That confirmed my thoughts about the bottom fitted sheet – they simply are a pain to try and iron, are they not?

I was really pleased once I had all that done!

I went over my Kids Talk again in the afternoon and will read through it early tomorrow morning too.

I allowed myself time in the late afternoon to sit and watch an episode of “The Block” and to do a few rows of my baby shawl.  No, I will not have completed the main section by the time I leave tomorrow, but I only have a few more rows to go. I did my best and am almost there!

Today has been a day of cleaning and tidying – a scrub-a-dub-dub sort of day, as I wanted to leave this home neat and tidy for Mariaan and Tinus’ homecoming tomorrow.

I have so enjoyed my stay here and looking after Felix, who is such a lovable and cuddly cat, but I am looking forward to going back home to be with Ken and seeing my little Raafie and Shamara again.

What lesson did I learn today? To see what has to be done and pace myself so I get it all done!

What am I grateful for today? Time spent in a beautiful home with a cat who loved me.

My saying for today is …
