I was up bright and early, fed my feline, made my coffee and went up to my studio to have my quiet Time.
My day had begun!
Later I went downstairs and got all my hoo-ha together for my flower arrangement at church. I had the silver spray painted section of a dried palm leaf, three apples that I had spray painted gold, the sign written in gold of Proverbs 25: 11 “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in fittings of silver” a delicate branch sprayed silver, some penny gum leaves, and three heads of agapanthus in varying stages of growth – a tight bud, a half opened head and a full head of jacaranda blue and a small container wrapped in layers of silver tin foil.
I quickly showered and got myself dressed and then a little later Ken and I left for church. Unfortunately for me, although earlier than normal we were still to skid into church before the service, which meant there I was trying to create my flower arrangement with the congregation watching behind me. Plus, I had several children gather around me to watch what I was doing too! Not the most relaxed way to arrange flowers!
Never mind, I got them done, but there was no time for photos.
Straight after the church service, we had our quarterly meeting, and as usual Matt’ (our secretary and who is going overseas with his family for a year in 2025 - boo-hoo!) ran such an efficient meeting. With a one-two-three it was done and dusted.
Tinus and Mariaan, plus Tinus’ Mum who is out from South Africa had organized to meet us for lunch at the Bago Tavern at 12.15pm and we were spot on time! We had a lovely meal together and it was so nice to meet Susan, Tinus’ Mum. As the men were finishing their coffees, suddenly Tinus’ Mum’s face drained of all color, and she sort of folded over the table saying she was feeling very strange. She did not look well at all. Tinus ran off to fetch his car and bring it closer and Mariaan and I helped Susan up and supporting her we began to walk slowly towards the gate. Tinus arrived and whisked his Mum off, but the hospital in Wauchope is not open on a Sunday! So, they decided to head into Port Macquarie hospital, but thankfully Susan revived after being in their air-conditioned vehicle and by the time they got her home she was feeling a lot better. Shame, it was the heat, and the remains of jet lag that had overcome her.
In amongst that happening, Mariaan handed me a gift bag saying, “Just something small to say, ‘Thank you!’ for looking after my home and kitty cat, as they rushed off with Susan.
I only opened the gift bag addressed to both Ken and mwah – and my goodness gracious golly gee, there were gifts galore – a very unusual slab of beautifully decorated chocolate, the dearest little cuckoo like clock – even with the weights hanging from it - as a fridge magnet from Germany (where they had gone on holiday), a beautiful glass mug with a glass blown tiny frog as the handle, a wooden sign and also a wonderful gift of money just to thank us both. I was blow away and was very grateful to them for their kindness to us.
I phoned Mariaan to thank her, and was delighted to hear that Susan was feeling so much better and was then tucked up in bed and resting.
I climbed into bed but only at about nine o’clock to listen to my audio book for a while, before slowly succumbing to sleep!
What lesson did I learn today? Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do, even if the situation is not ideal! Like arranging flowers in front of a crowd!
What am I grateful for today? Meeting Susan, who is a very gracious lade – Tinus’ Mum.
My saying for today is ...
