I woke up just before four o‘clock this morning and hopped out of bed quick smart.
I fed Shamara and made my coffee and then went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time.
I then tried so hard to try and catch up with my Bible Studies as I have fallen behind by one and a half days, due to writing notes for our Bible Study Group and having to prepare for my SRE lessons today. With a little hard work though, I will soon be back on track. I hope to have caught up by tomorrow.
This morning, Ken woke up with the sniffles, coughing and with a sore throat too, so he was not a happy chappie and stayed in bed until about half past six this evening. Hopefully he will soon feel better. A sick man in a household is not a good thing!
I made sure that I was at school before I had to be, as I always do. I like to watch the children at lunch play, and kids love being watched by whoever. Plus, today, Will Jamieson, the SRE Co-Ordinator (who I am taking over from when he is ready to hand the position over,) was coming into my lessons to criticise my teaching ability as a Scripture teacher.
Shoo! I always find it quite confronting having two adults – a teacher plus whoever is criticizing my SRE lesson presentations – both watching my every move and listening to whatever I say and do! It certainly keeps me on my toes though!
Both my classes had transformed into little angelic beings! Bless them! They had been told (by the teachers) that a man was coming to check out if I was a good teacher and the children were genuinely concerned for me and so behaved like angels! But after a few minutes they were as they really are normally, and they all forgot about being angelic and just enjoyed the class.
Both my SRE classes today were an absolute joy and Will’ said he could not fault my teaching or presentation which he said was really good, well-paced, and he loved the activities that I chose for these classes which were age appropriate. He felt that I gave ample opportunities to the children to ask and answer questions and that I demonstrated effective use of nonverbal and verbal cues to engage the children, including voice modulation! He was particularly impressed that I knew and addressed each child by their name. Something I consider very important.
Shoo! So that test is over for another year now! Hallelujah!
When I got home, I quickly started to clean, sweep, mop and make beds as Paddy, Tamryn and Matt’ arrive tonight. I am happy that their beds are nice and clean and tomorrow I will clean out the fridge in the main shed area for cool drinks and beers.
I am teaching in Sunday School this Sunday. Yoh! I seem to be doing nothing but teaching here there and everywhere of late! But I honestly love doing that, so I am not complaining!
I fed the chooks and gave them clean water this afternoon, and then when Ken got up he fed the dogs.
I think Tamryn and Matt’ should be here by about eight o’clock and Paddy will be much later – at about ten o’clock. But we will all wake up under the same roof in the morning tomorrow! Yahee!
I was still up and moving when Ken fetched Tamryn and Matt’ at just after nine o’clock and then Matt’ went back as Paddy was only about half an hour behind them. I was already fast asleep when Paddy arrived.
What lesson did I learn today? If I have done the work expected of me, I have nothing to fear.
What am I grateful for today? That Will gave me a good report concerning my ability to teach SRE lessons.
My saying for today is …
Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see."
