This morning my i-phone alarm worked well as I had the sound turned down so it did not feel like the Vikings had landed, like the other morning!
I hopped out of bed just on four o 'clock with my brain already whirring, thinking, and planning as I had a lot to do before I left home this morning and headed for the train station.
I am so excited to spend this week at the beach just kicking back and chilling. I think I am gifted at doing that!
We left the farm at half past eleven to allow plenty of wiggle time for the road works as I could not afford to miss the train today!
Bless my man, he got me to the train station with plenty of time to spare and he stayed with me until the train actually arrived and waved me off as I clickety-click left the Wauchope station and headed down to the Gosford station.
This time I was seated in carriage A and found myself sitting on the bed/sleeper couch with two young ladies off to uni'. I said my "Hello's" and then excused myself saying this was my special time to just read, which they were happy with as they were doing the same.
My problem was that I was really tired and that clickety-click of the train made me really sleepy, but I dared not dose off for fear of dribbling, drooling or suddenly jerking awake with a snort loud enough to cause trauma to my fellow passengers!
There would be none of that happening!
So, there I sat desperately trying to keep my eyeballs open, and guess what? Although I am now eighty, I managed to do just that, and I read an incredible amount of my book on my Kindle!
The train was running eleven minutes late by the time it pulled into the Gosford station, and there on the station platform was Robert pacing up and down waiting to pick me up. He had just arrived on the Sydney train from work. It was just after seven o'clock in the evening.
Robert collected my suitcase and off we went to their home to be met by Mich' and Ethan (who had just come home from Taree where he had had a week of hands-on training for his stint of working this coming week in the Coffs Harbour hospital as a physio' in training.)
Little Savvy = their little mutt, also gave me a wonderful "hello-glad-you-are-here again" greeting with much tail wagging and little leaps of happiness. Dogs are so good at that.
I phoned Ken to let him know that I had arrived in one piece and to say, "Good night!" to my man before he headed off to sleep.
Mich' had put out some wraps with all the trimmings for our supper and we watched a few minutes of TV before we all folded and headed for our respective beds and to sleep.
Marvellous! With a one-two-and-a-three I was soon fast asleep. All was well in my world.
What lesson did I learn today? Not to be anxious but rather to plan so I am not late - allowing plenty of time for the "what-ifs" in life.
What am I grateful for today? My train trip - I just love travelling by train to anywhere.
My saying for today is ...
