Everyone was a little slower in getting up and moving to prove they were awake this morning! For me almost three weeks of go-go-go-ing was beginning to show in my sluggish thinking and movements!
But … time and tide wait for no man, so I began my day after having had my Quiet Time et cetera to take down all the Christmas decorations and put them away. Yoh! What a job to be doing in this heat.
Poor Paddy and Tamryn went out to where the Tent Town had been, to remove the port-a-loo – I did not envy them at all. I underwent an attitude change quick smart and was delighted to be removing Christmas decorations in this heat!
Nothing like perspective!
Paddy and Tamryn were very guys scuttling backwards and forwards – then measuring and planning, packing and eventually they left the farm at about half past twelve, or thereabouts.
After I had packed all the Christmas decorations that I used for Christmas 2024, I swept and tidied in the main shed. Then I began to take down all the photos on the staircase wall, as we will soon be skimming, staining and sealing these concrete floors to get that polished concrete flooring look. I cannot wait. I am so excited but know that this is just a beginning of a really long process … but maybe all the lessons on patience I have had to learn will help me!
In the mid-afternoon Shelayne phoned and we had a long, long chat and they are getting so excited for Ken and I to fly out this year! (Shelayne et famille live in Seattle, in the USA). My goodness, ‘this year’ that sounds so soon now!
Ken has had a very quiet day today sleeping for almost the whole day.
At about four o’clock I decided to go up to my studio and continue purging my emails – shoo! There were just hundreds of them as I did not attend to them when everyone was here over Christmas. Slowly-slowly and I will sort them all out!
Tonight, for our supper I think I will just make steak and cheese toasties with a side salad, as we need to eat these steaks that Paddy cooked for me yesterday. Tomorrow, I can serve them with mashed potatoes and veggies, and I will come up with some other ideas until we have eaten them all!
As I took each photo off the floor I numbered it, plus I took a photo of how I had arranged them all so that when all the skimming of the floors has been done, and the dust has literally settled, I will know where to put them! You have to learn to make allowances for age you know!
At just on five o’clock I decided to sit outside in my new camper chair and enjoy the cool breeze blowing before trying to create our evening meal. I was enjoying that when the heavens opened suddenly, and another shower of rain fell! That sent me scuttling inside and made sure that Ken, who was out at the back of the farm checking cattle, was soaking wet!
Paddy and Tamryn got back home after a very long day of working, and Paddy and Ken brought our new washing machine in. I cannot wait to get it working now!
We ate not long after their arrival back home and then Paddy, Tamryn and I headed for our respective beds, but Ken stayed up a little longer.
What lesson did I learn today? Next year I will not hang so many baubles on our Christmas tree!
What am I grateful for today? The quick shower of rain we had this afternoon as a storm skimmed past us. Only 2.5mm but it has made it cooler. And later another shower too.
My saying for today is …
