So true!
I had a delicious sleep-in this morning - only rising at a quarter to six! What a lazy lump I am, I am! but oh, it was so nice.
The day arrived a little soggy around its edges, with more soft drizzle, and more rain to come today. The farm is beyond being muddy and soggy, it is now just saturated with little rivulets popping up here, there and everywhere, crisscrossing the green of pastures with their silvery fingers creating intricate lacey patterns.
After my Quiet Time I went downstairs and began to try to put up all the photos I had originally (with Ken’s help,) hung on the staircase wall, but had to take down when Paddy, Tamryn and Matt’ skimmed the raw concrete floors, stained and sealed them for us, because the concrete powder went in, over, under and around everything!
Unfortunately, several photos were ruined by the rain when they were in a container outside that got soaking wet, so I will need to replace several frames and photos. At least I have made a beginning of repairing and re-hanging the photos on the photo wall!
Then I decided come hell or high water - (we have the high water already!) I needed to move the cupboards which meant heave-ho-ing the containers that were in the way of that little exercise.
Yoh! I worked up such a sweat that I had to have a shower and get dressed again!
Then Ken came and helped me move the large cupboard and drawers too, so I am slowly getting things moved around and sorted. Still a LONG way to go though.
This work demands a LOT of patience - just saying!
While I was waiting for Ken to help me put the drawers back into the large cupboard, as they are too heavy for me to do on my own, I finished off the hand sewing on the newly hemmed jeans and longs of his that I did recently for him.
But then before Ken could come back to help me, he had a peculiar turn late this morning, a horrible dizzy spell. So, I sent him back to bed to lie down and rest. Frightening really, as the doctors and specialists cannot find out what is causing all these hiccups in his health. I am of no help either as I cannot even stick a Band-Aid plaster on straight and do not have one cell of nursing ability in my body!
Shame, I hope my man feels a LOT better later.
Thankfully he did.
I took the one large frame of photos that was ruined and took the six glass pieces out of it, with the photos that were ruined stuck to them, and soaked them in warm soapy water to remove them off the glass. Then I went through the large container of loose photos to replace the ruined ones. I still have to wait to get all the ruined photos off as they were well and truly stuck to the glass.
More patience needed.
Up until three o’clock we had had no rain, so maybe I will be able to go to Bingara on Saturday, but it also depends on how high the river remains. Ken reckons that it will still be too high.
Tonight, for our supper, as we still have quite a bit of the four cheeses ravioli left over, I will create something to go with it. Nah! Both Ken and I opted for sliced roast lamb on bread with onion and chutney instead.
What lesson did I learn today? A little more patience.
What am I grateful for today? That a lot less rain fell today.
My saying for today is …
