My poor little alarm clock is looking rather beaten up as the glass was broken on our trip to the USA, so this morning I thought I would give it a rest and use the alarm on my i-phone instead.
W-e-l-l! I set it and I thought the tune I chose for it was rather playful but my goodness gracious golly gee, I thought the Vikings had landed when it began to play in the wee dark hours of today! Not the right choice Gail Morgan!
I swotted everything on my bedside table in order to turn that very loud Viking like tune off, knocking the lamp over and whatever else was in my way!
I shall use my beaten-up old alarm clock tomorrow!
I had my Quiet Time, a shower, put the washing and dishwasher on early and got ready for the day.
I left Ken sleeping as I bounced, banged and swayed across the river to my little car.
I must admit there is much swivelling of my eyeballs done as I gingerly removed the hail damage prevention cover off my car as there are so many snakes around now. Good exercise for my eyes though.
I hate being late for anything or anyone so I will always leave allowing plenty of wiggle room for the "in case this or that happens". This morning, I left the farm at a quarter to nine for a ten o'clock appointment in Wauchope. Now, the Wauchope trip is normally a forty-minute run. Today it took me an hour and fifteen minutes with all the road works on the go!
I arrived at the workshop at three minutes to ten!
I was suitably impressed by the mechanic as it is his business, and he works on his own. He was polite, efficient and quick. While he worked on my car, I phoned all my family and friends to thank them for coming to my party and for my gifts.
Now, I have a brand new re-gassed aircon' in my car so I drove home in style, really chilled to my edges! Marvellous!
Once home there were many things I wanted to do but we had an outage for the day, which meant no electricity, and one realises at those times how much we rely on electricity in our everyday lives.
So, I did what I could and then waited for Frik - a good friend and dedicated fisherman to arrive. Ken must have mentioned to him at my party that my oven had died, and he offered to see if he could repair it for me. Bless that man!
Frik arrived and he and Ken soon had my stove in bits and pieces with screws and what-nots everywhere, but ... they managed to get it all together again later with no screws leftover and my oven now works! Hallelujah!
Frik then set off for a quick fish but reported on returning that he had only had a few light nibbles on his 'killer' lure! Frik then set sail for home again (Port Macquarie) promising to return to catch the 'big one'! "Thank you Frik for fixing my oven!"
Once the electricity came on again, I worked on the TV out in the main shed area to connect it again as it had been moved out there recently - and whoop-dee-doo-dee, I did that! But the big TV in our living area was a different kettle of fish as last night Ken had "pressed some button" (which turned out to be several buttons later!) and "it went funny!"
After much patience was used I managed (I think by mistake if I have to be honest here!) to get it working again! I must also admit I almost threatened Ken with dire consequences should he press any buttons again!
For our meal tonight we had some cooked and cold prawns with a seafood sauce which I had made. It was so nice as it was still such a hot day and neither of us were hungry at all. Very yum!
I then crawled into bed and was fast asleep before Ken came to bed.
What lesson did I learn today? To always allow plenty of time to get anywhere "in case"!
What am I grateful for today? Frik offering his services to fix my oven - which he did!
My saying for today is ...
