Blog for Tuesday 19th November 2024

Again, I woke up at two o’clock but thankfully went back to sleep this morning! Two o’clock must be when I am dreaming actively and wake myself up or something like that!

This morning Shamara was delighted to see me at four o’clock for some more food.

When Paddy was here over this last weekend, he bound her one leg that keeps bleeding as she walks on that elbow joint as the sinews (or something) have collapsed there in her leg, poor feline, and so the skin is bare ad gets hurt easily. I thought that she would go crazy and try scratching or chewing the plaster off, but she seems to be comforted and comfortable with it on.

This morning after my Quiet Time I did my  Bible study and then started to look at what I will teach the children in my SRE classes this Thursday. But, I am still not a hundred percent happy with what I have done so far. Plus, I am back I the saddle to lead our Bible Study   Group.

Our Bible Study Group is on tomorrow, after which we have a funeral to attend. The funeral is for of one of the really, lovely ladies who belonged to our church. It should be a celebration really as she is now is a much happier place.

I did some  more washing and then hung it all out although it looked as if it would rain, but there was a fairly stiff breeze blowing so I knew the washing would dry quickly – and hopefully before any rain showed up!

No rain showed up so I had lots of dry washing!

I then attacked the bookshelves at the very back of the main area of the shed. I will give most of the books that were there away and get rid of the bookshelves too. I have sorted out which books I still want to keep, but Paddy and Ken will have to look through all the farming books, manuals, et cetera and select what, if any, they would like to keep.

Okay! That done I began on the ironing.

Yahee! Done and dusted – always such a good feeling!

Then I tried to sort out the TV – to link it to Starlink and our Apple TV, but these things are beyond my IT knowledge – way-way beyond it, I fear! I try, and hopefully learn a little more patience but I seldom win the battle!

Yes-yes! I am still fighting with the kitty litter machine too – shoo, talk about being totally baffled by all things technological!

I get so excited thinking that I have won the techno' battle, only to find that nothing is working Then I have to pick myself up off the floor again and try again, and again and again. Sometimes, I just get lucky and something works, but today … nah, no luck! Just a lot of time spent picking myself up off the floor again.  But there is always tomorrow to try again.

At a quarter past three I decided to drive across the river and check the post box as Ken forgot to do that yesterday, and he has had a bad day today. I was going to take Raafie with me as he rather enjoys a ride in the ute’, but he too was sleeping with Ken, so I went on my own.

Rats! I had hoped that my printer inks had arrived in the post, but they did not. Never mind, tomorrow, maybe?

Tonight, we can have the last of the Chicken Chow Mein meal – I really like it cold actually, especially if it is a hot day. Hot or cold it is a nice meal and I will definitely make it again.

Ah-ha~ That reminds me, we are having a ‘Sausage Sizzle’ at the end of this month’ - held by our church for whomsoever in our community, and I need to make a slice/cake or some finger dessert. Yahee, a good excuse to try out another new recipe

I pulled out a few recipe books when I was sorting out books to give away this morning and will plan our Christmas lunch and begin to collect the ingredients needed. I also need to come up with a different Christmas table setting idea for this year. I am thinking white, silver and a natural colour like hopsack. I must spend some time creating something special.

We only have Robert, Mich’, Josh’, Paulina and Ethan coming to the farm this Christmas, but it will be lovely. The rest of the family will meet in Paddy and Ren’s home, as Ren’s parents are out from South Africa for Christmas and as everyone is working, it makes it hard to get to the farm because the roads are jammed packed full with vehicles nose to tail over those few days.

In many ways I am sad not to have the large family gatherings here any more, but as the family are all ‘growed up’ now it is just too hard. I loved all the noise, chaos and hard work of those crazy days. But I guess I am older now and it will be good to have a quieter Christmas. Well. the last few years have been so.

I still have not settled on what I am doing for my SRE classes at school – I will have to have that done by tomorrow night for sure!

Okay, now as the evening draws near I am off to pour over recipe books and dream about Christmas fare!

What lesson did I l earn today? Never to give up. Pause and try again!

What am I grateful for today? That I got all the ironing done and dusted!

My saying for today is …
