Blog for Tuesday 1st October 2024

Yahee! It is the first day of October - my birthday month! I am already excited for my special day. But before that happens, it is also Bryan’s (one of my three brothers) birthday before mine. In fact, we are the same age for two days! Something Bryan loved when we were younger, but now I am happy for him to be the older one but he does not want to be!

Once I had had my Quiet Time this morning, and had put my blog up on our website, I began the long haul of continuing to sort my studio out. I am going through each section with a fine toothcomb – sorting, throwing out, putting back neatly or giving stuff away, et cetera. I have attacked my files and files of Bible studies that I have done over the years and those I will file under the stairs in a large plastic box). Next, it was my sewing area and embroidery section where I undid a snarled-up tangles of silken threads – it was like undoing an overwind in fishing!  (Yesterday I did my desks (computer and art desk) and cupboards) and today I also did my art things and calligraphy paraphernalia. I still have a lot of sorting to do with my art things, but hopefully I can get that done early in the morning as I have a lot of ironing to do too tomorrow, and somewhere during the day I want to bake another batch of rusks before Paddy and Tamryn arrive on the farm.

Slowly – slowly – slowly I am getting thing done, but it is at a snail’s pace unfortunately. Even if slow … it is still counts as progress!

While I was busy up in my studio I also put on loads and load of bedlinen, blankets, throws and whatever I decided was dirty or looked even slightly dusty went into the washing machine. In fact, if you were here and stood around for a bit, anything or anybody stationery, I would have thrown in too!

Ken left the farm at midday today as he had to get the one quad fixed, plus he thought he bought his tablets the other day, but he could not remember where he had put them. We searched high and low here for the wretched pills, but we could not find them. So, he had to get more of them today – only to discover that he did NOT buy them the other day anyway! A lot of useless time wasted searching for non-existent tablets! (But patience was being s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d and learnt!)

I am well pleased with my progress in my studio today but there is still a long, long way to go! But I am inching my way towards my goal - the end is in sight.

Tonight, we will just have savory mince on toast with a salad, as there is not much energy left in my tank. I was tired after all the non-stop working – no, not even a row or half a row of my crocheting today for a rest.  It has been my head down, derriere up and keep- working-lass sort of a day!

What lesson did I learn today? Patience. Persistence. Perseverance. Determination.

What am I grateful for today? My goal of sorting my studio out is almost completed.

My saying for today is …
