I woke up at half past two – seems to be a time that I am dreaming a lot and that wakes me. I lay in bed and tried hard to fall asleep again, but … nope, no luck. So, I got up and out of bed at twenty pat three and fell into the day as it was arriving!
Shamara was happy to be fed ice and early so she did not complain at all.
I made my coffee and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time.
I knew Ken wanted to leave the farm early to get the ute’ in for its service, so I was showered and dressed by just after half after six. Shame, Ken had his normal battle with the duvet and arose from the muddle of sheets, dog and duvet at about seven!
At (I think it was) half past seven, I saw Peter Garrett arriving on the farm to begin work on Tamryn’s container. He popped up to the top shed to say “Hi!” and then he was off to begin to work.
I drove the ute’ across the river to my little car while Ken rode the quad bike across. Then he got into the ute’ and headed off and I got into my car and followed him into Wauchope.
Ken dropped the ute’ off and I picked him up and we sail for Port Macquarie.
Yoh! We went from here to there and there to here as I had a lot of bits and pieces to get.
I was so excited as we bought our first outdoor chairs – nice ones – we just have not bought any for years and years and years. I am looking forward to spending many hours in them down at the river or sitting around the fire. I also bought four noodles – for hanging over as the river gently pulls one along. My kinda swimming where you do not even have to paddle!
Next stop was at the Good Guys where I bought myself a stick vacuum that docks to recharge. When I looked after Mariaan’s home recently, she had one and to me it was the answer to all things and it is simply wonderful at chasing and getting rid of all dust bunnies. I cannot wait to use it.
Sad that I am so excited to vacuum. How did I get to this state in life?
I managed to squeeze in a quick trim at ‘Just Cuts’ and then Ken and I had a bite to eat. Ken had eggs and bacon on toast, and I ordered a vanilla slice, because I could! We both had iced peach tea. Which was lovely.
Then while Ken finished off his food, I darted into Big W where I bought two beautiful tins of Norwegian chocolate biscuits, put them in a gift bag and wrote on a little gift tag. I presented it to the people in ‘Just Cuts’ as a “Thank You!” for Christmas – for them to share and enjoy over their teas or coffees. They were delighted.
Ken then kindly drove me around to the Discount Chemist, where I bought some health powder for Ken. Mich’ suggested it for him as she has only recently been using it and it has helped her tremendously to overcome fatigue caused by a thyroid problem, which Ken has problems with too. So I pray this will be a blessing to him as well.
We then hit Aldis and thankfully it was not as busy as it was the other day when we were there. I bumped into Frank (one of our good ex-South African) friends near the bread shelves and sent him off to have a chat with Ken as I whipped around the shop loading our trolley!
Yahee! Wonderful! All the shopping done in Port Macquarie; it was time to return to Wauchope. There Ken had to pop into the Rural Centre for some tick tags for the calves, and I went to ‘The Holy Cow’ to pick up some meat and place my Christmas order.
Shane, bless that man, had made some more boerewors (South African sausages) for me and so I picked 3kgs of them up, plus some steaks to have while Paddy and Matt’ are with us this week.
I also went into the IGA to get some cold meats for our lunches over the next few days.
Then I drove us home again jiggety-jog!
Klane, our mechanic, had suggested that he drive the ute’ out to us when he had finished servicing it and had closed his shop up for the day. His Dad would drive his vehicle out as they wanted to do a spot of fishing here. Honestly, what service – that was a 56km drive for them - one way!
When we got to the river crossing, we had to leave the majority of our shopping in my car, and I just took the frozen or cold items with us on the quad bike. Later, Ken took the ute’ back across the river to collect the rest of the shopping.
And then somewhere between Klane, his Dad and son arriving here and Ken fetching the shopping still in my car, Matt’ arrived! He quickly shot off to see what Peter had done up at the container and was suitably impressed as Peter had whipper snipped and had removed all the old posts and fencing, making it look immediately neater and cared for,
While the men were busy doing something I unpacked and put away most of the groceries but I will still have the tins and bottles to put away in the morning.
My body was demanding sleep as I had been going since the wee hours of today.
I complied as Matt’ had already turned in and Raafie was keen to follow me to sleep. Ken came to bed a bit later.
What lesson did I learn today? How important shopping lists are. They keep you on track and you forget nothing!
What am I grateful for today? A happy day!
My saying for today is …
