I woke up before four but only rolled out of bed at ten past four! What a lazy wench I am – I am! But I DID get up. One point to me!
I fed Shamara, who is now sleeping on the dining room table (very close to her food bowl I may add!) at night as it is too hot for her on our bed now that the weather is a lot warmer.
I had my Quiet Time and then read and answered e-mails.
Today I had on my ‘To Do List’ – washing and loads of it – to start cleaning up in the main shed area. I cannot wait for the shelving to go up now, because I will then be able to get things off the floor and up out of harm’s way. Plus, it will be a lot easier to see any slithering reptile should it foolishly decided to pay us a visit unannounced!
I swept and tidied our home, but I did not mop today as rain was forecast and mopping is jut a wasted exercise if we get rain as Raafie is in and out, out and in and there are muddy paw prints left everywhere as evidence.
Paddy was fencing all day, and he also hung a new gate, which is between the Large and Small River Camps.
Shame, Dané’s little Suzuki (or Jeep or whatever 4WD - as you maybe can guess, I am not up on vehicle types, makes or modes! ) – which is brand new, was rammed from behind by a woman without insurance or a licence in the heavy traffic returning home yesterday! What a horrible way to end Dané’s weekend away.
Today I managed to clear the table in the main shed area completely - (miracle right there, people!) That allowed me to take off the white tablecloth and the maroon overlay so I could wash them.
I carted out bedside mats to wash them. I had three canvas bags which I scrubbed too – my sewing machine case, my scrapbooking carryall, and my laptop case.
Oh yes! I also washed my wide brimmed hat from Spain, which was given to me ages ago by a friend.
At four o’ clock the rain began, and poor Paddy was caught out in it! At least he will be squeaky clean when he gets in!
Oh, dear! It came down in buckets initially, so he will be absolutely soggily, soaked.
Yikes! Thunder, lightning and rain pelted down really, really hard. Poor Paddy!
Tonight, I will be roasting a boneless leg of lamb, roast potatoes, butternut and peas – and I still have some of the cheese sauce leftover for those who like it, and some mint jelly too.
Ken went out and around the farm for a bit this morning, but had he had his normal siesta later, and when he woke up the rain was here.
In the afternoon – late afternoon – I began to look at the SRE lesson I will be teaching when I go back to school for the last school term for 2024
What lesson did I learn today? Stick to my ‘To Do List’ tasks and not be waylaid or side tracked by any distractions.
What am I grateful for today? The rain. In the first shower we got 6.5mm
My saying for today is…
