I rolled out of bed in slow motion at ten past four this morning - oh dear, what a lazy wench!

Ah! But it was good not to hear rain tap-tapping on our tin roof when I got up. We have had enough rain for the moment, but … hey, if we get more, that will just be an extra blessing, not so? Mud is better than dust on a farm.

I thought that we had no rain yesterday, but with the odd drizzle here and the odd drizzle there we had 3mm overnight.

In the wee hours of today I had my Quiet Time, did my Bible Study and chose a proverb this morning for the day.

Then I knitted three rows and checked on how many jerseys I still need to sew up and put buttons on. I am looking forward to when we can get into town again so I can finish these baby jerseys and wash them, so they are ready for the next generation due - our great-grandchildren!

Today I am back in the saddle trying to sort out the mess in the shed. It is taking me such a long time to get it done, but some items are just too heavy for me to move or get to, but … I WILL get there.

Today I am hoping to put the drawers into the large cupboard and return the stuff that was in those drawers. I also want to try to sort out bedlinen, but I may need more containers to do that. I will have to wait and see.

I also need to start to move my indoor plants around, for soon we will want to be using the fireplace again (seems crazy, doesn’t it?) which means moving all the plants near it now.

I have collected and saved so many courses over the years on writing - photography - and a variety of art courses - which I have bought when they were on sale for a ridiculously low amount - like $2.00, so this morning I decided to have a quick peak at one of them. Maybe I should discipline myself to do one lesson every afternoon or maybe set a day aside as I love my art but seldom make time for it.

This morning, I did two lessons! Yahee!

I contacted Marg’ (one of the ladies in our Bible Study Group) to apologize for our not being able to attend again this week. The river is still far too high (I can still see it from my studio window) for us to attempt any crossing yet. I am over running the gauntlet with it and then having to hold me breath and hope that we make it across. Getting too old for that rush of adrenalin and fear. (I think I can add foolishness too!)

Just make doubly sure that the river was uncrossable, I walked down to it at midday and took some photos and a video. Well, that erased any doubts! It is still ridiculously high, flowing very fast and I reckon we will be lucky to get off the farm by the end of the week.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the actual crossing has been gouged out, so even if the river level goes down, we may still have a problem getting across! (The normal crossing begins on the other side of the grass, and only half the width of the river is visible from this side. Just a LOT of water!

And only half of the river is visible from this side!

I then contacted the school as I will not be able to teach tomorrow either. Tsch! I will have to wait another week to do that. The school thought that I was flooded in, but I like to apologize to them anyway.

Today I finished off the last of sorting a few last things in my studio - and now I have one very neat, organized studio! Whoo-hoo!

I then went downstairs and attacked one rather large shopping tote filled to the top with papers, papers, papers. That took some sorting and a LOT of patience - filing or throwing out. That meant going through each paper which was rather uninteresting, but it had to be done.

Now it is done!

Ken kindly put two of the four drawers back into that large cupboard, but two of the drawers apparently need some attention before they get put back. Screws loose I believe - no not mine - the drawers!

He worked on them later - good man!

I also did three loads of washing as I thought I would take a chance at the weathermen being correct about there being little rain falling in our area today. They were right - the farm was splashed with lovely buttery yellow sunshine everywhere.

The ground is very wet still and I wore my gumboots to walk down the road to the river. So, I had the opportunity to jump over several puddles on route. I resisted the delicious temptation (at great cost I many add!) of jumping right into the centre of the puddle as I did not fancy getting sopping wet and having to walk home like that.

Ken went out to the back of the farm with the dogs who were delighted to be out and about for a change. To run freely along muddy roads, through muddy puddles and all in the beautifully warm sunshine in front of the quad bike! A dog’s dream. Fun in the sun!

What lesson did I learn today? Persistence and the determination of a weed.

What am I grateful for today? No rain and lots of sunshine.

My saying for today is …
