Blog for Wednesday 20th November 2024

I woke up again at two o’clock this morning, I tried to go to sleep, but by just before three o’clock I gave up that battle and got up out of bed.

Shamara was delighted to start eating earlier again!

I made myself a coffee and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, do my Bible Study and go over the notes I had jotted down for our Bible Study Group this morning.

I have asked Ian to continue leading the Bible Study Group as I think in a mixed group it is wiser to have a man lead the group. I will still do all the studying and chip in with any insights I have gained by my study, but Ian will lead. He was happy to do so.

After Bible Study Group Ken and I headed into Wauchope where I got Ken to post our birthday card to Ren’ - and I sent it Express hoping it will arrive there on her special day.

I tried to get a battery for my watch at the jewelers in Wauchope, but they do not sell them apparently. I will have t try in Port Macquarie at the end of the week then.

Ken and I stopped at the Thrumster shopping centre and had a quick coffee before heading off to the Crematorium for Moira’s funeral.

It was nice to see so many friends there, but a bit scary that it is now at funerals that we all meet up. Before it was for 18th, then 21st birthdays, engagements, weddings, birth of babies and now … it is funerals!

Moira’s funeral was lovely - a real celebration of a good life. She was much loved by many, and she touched and influenced so many lives – incredible to see from a woman who was a quiet and very much background sort of lady. She is so loved by her family – her three children their spouses, and her grandchildren - who spoke about her so well today. Her son battled his way through his speech about her, but it was very moving and so saturated in love and there was a huge sadness at facing life without her around.

Moira’s wake was held at the Wauchope Country Club, but Ken and I did not attend as it would make it very late for us to get back home. Plus, Ken had to feed the bulls and dogs, so we came home instead.

Ken had to sort out the one water trough in the Large River Camp as the water was empty. So, Ken dropped me at home, and he then shot down there to sort that problem out quick smart. Oh dear, there was no 'quick smart' happening as he has to climb into the dam to sort the problem out apparently!

For our supper tonight we are having steaks, potato puffs, and veggies with a cheese sauce.

I needed to try and write out my lessons for SRE tomorrow tonight. I am so happy that my printer inks arrived today so I will be able to print out the notes I need for the children too.

What lesson did I learn today? How brief our stay on earth really is!

What am I grateful for today? The celebration of Moira’s life.

My saying for today is …
