Blog for Wednesday 22nd October 2025

I was up at four o'clock - well, that is not technically true. I was up but I sat up in bed to have my Quiet Time and waited for more of the day to arrive before physically getting out of bed!

Later I went downstairs and waited for Mich' to come downstairs when we had our first mug of coffee to start our day together.

We then watched and listened to another DVD of the Book of Daniel before making ourselves a nice breakfast again.

For breakfasts we have been boiling eggs and putting them on toast covered with mashed avo', mixed green leaves, red onion and sometimes chopped tomatoes, hummus, mayo or Greek yoghurt.

We then take our plates outside and sit there watching the ocean moving back and forth and we have been lucky enough to see whales splashing or spouting water, almost every day that we have been here.

This morning, I attempted to try and take a photo of the waves smashing against the rocks below us. I think I managed to get a few worth keeping. Here they are ... nothing fancy just taken with my i-phone.

This is a photo Mich' took of us playing our word game = Bananagram - and chatting to Kerry' (my eldest daughter who lives in South Africa, and one of Mich's big sisters). Note I am wearing the pyjamas that Kerry' gave me as a gift.

Today, Mich' and I took a drive around then went to "our beach" but the tide was in and the water far too high for us to have a swim. So, we decided that we would do a toddle around in the Vinnies shop nearby, which we did.

Before we went out, we put on a load of washing and when we got back 'home' we hung it out in the sunshine as it was really hot by then. It was 33C and apparently on the farm it was 38C!

On getting back home we played a couple of rounds of Bananagram and then Mich' headed off to do some serious reading and relaxing. I chose to do a bit more of my smocking and had to correct a mistake I had made. Easy-peasy - all done!

I started a new audio book this afternoon, which I think will be good - it is a book high on the Best Sellers list at the moment. Although that is not always a guarantee that I will enjoy it.

Tonight, and we will have a Satay chicken meal, and chips and a dip before that.

Even when we went to bed it was still hot - 29C

What lesson did I learn today? To really, really enjoy this time away of rest, relaxation, reading, and lots of fun and laughter with Mich'.

What am I grateful for today? A beautiful sunny day with temperatures reaching up in the mid-thirties.

My saying for today is ...
