I rolled out of bed in the wee hours of today, and into the darkness of the new day. I was then escorted to Shamara’s food bowl by the feline herself!
Even in the early hours of today, one could sense that the day was going to be hot-hot-hot!
It was that too!
I had my Quiet Time and then did my Bible Study for the day, and I also finished off the last few lines of yesterday’s Bible Study too. So, I am all up to speed!
I put together my new vacuum cleaner and put it in its dock against the wall to charge it. But I was so excited to try it out that I only let it charge for a little bit and then tried it. It works beautifully! Now, I have to have the patience to allow it to charge fully.
I decided that I must bake a batch of rusks. Yoh, it was so hot to do that, but … I did it anyway, so that we will have enough rusks for our morning coffees with Paddy, Tamryn and Matt’ this week.
Later, I made some sandwiches and put bottles of water into the freezer to semi-freeze them and four cans of coke, into a cooler bag with a frozen block to keep them all cool. I asked Ken to take them up to Peter and Matt’ up working on the container – poor guys must have almost melted today, but … they kept going - or maybe they have passed out! I cannot see from here! I would walk up there to check on their progress but it is just too hot, plus there are quite a few snakes out and about, and that is enough to keep me permanently indoors for a while!
I phoned the school to make sure of the names of the children moving up to High School next year, so I can write their names in their books. I normally give them something from our church when they leave the Primary School to attend High School.
In the late afternoon I began to work on my notes for our Bible Study Group which will be on Friday instead of today - as several of our members have appointments today.
I used Ken’s quad bike to shoot up the hill, where the container has settled, to witness the work these two men – Peter and Matt’ - had been doing throughout the day and let me tell you …I was super impressed! They had installed a large window and sliding doors which has made a HUGE difference already – allowing a wonderful breeze into the container which must have bee like working in a sauna before!
As the day began to cool a little, Ken continued to mow our grass – for which I am deeply grateful. Now I can see if any slithery, that speaks with forked tongue, tries to enter our home! There is something beautiful about a newly mown lawn to me “Thank you my man!”
Talking about mown grass, Peter had even mown and tidied the grass around Tamryn’s container home, plus he removed the old fencing wiring and posts too to make it look so nice and neat. “Thanks Peter!
Matt’ and Peter came down the hill just after I had visited them for a beer, chips and dip, cheeses and biscuits, and time to take a breath and begin to unwind after a long day of really hard yakka.
I had another shower to rid myself of the hot and sweaty day before going to bed nice and early. But … my body was not ready to sleep, so I read and read and read and was still awake when Ken came to bed. Rather frustrating as I was genuinely tired.
What lesson did I learn today? When one is determined to do something, the sky is the limit! Today I witnessed Matt’ and Peter put their backs into working in the container and they did their best to ignore the heat and discomfort to achieve their goals.
What am I grateful for today? That Ken mowed our grass.
My saying for today is …
