Blog for Wednesday 28th December 2022

I found this old joke filed away on my computer and I hope it makes you smile …

A man who was previously a sailor was very aware that ships are addressed as “she” and “her”. He often wondered what gender computers should be addressed. To answer that question, he set up two groups of computer experts. The first was comprised of women and the second of men. Each group was asked to recommend whether computers should be referred to in the feminine gender, or the masculine gender. They were asked to give 4 reasons for their recommendation.

The group of women reported that the computers should be referred to in the masculine gender because:

  1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on.

  2. They have a lot of data but are still clueless.

  3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they are the problem.

  4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer you could have had a better model.

The men, on the other hand, concluded that computers should be referred to in the feminine gender because:

  1. No one but the Creator understands their internal logic.

  2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.

  3. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.

  4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your pay cheque on accessories for it.

Yoh! 2022 is fast running out, people! I will be glad to see the New Year in soon.

I was up at just before five this morning and as I had decided yesterday that today was to be my art day, I was excited to begin my day. I am setting aside quite a few art days for me during these school holidays as I have several art courses I would like to complete, and the only way that is going to happen is if I “grab” time and be disciplined enough to hang onto the time grabbed!

I had my Quiet Time while Shamara, my rather large cat smeared herself across my desk! She loves to be near me and even if it is just to touch my laptop keyboard area whilst I type, then she is happy! She also enjoys stretching out and tapping a few keys which wreaks havoc with what I am doing!

Later I went downstairs to put on the loads and loads of washing that had somehow accumulated steadily whilst we were away. Ngrrr! Another series of lessons on patience coming for me, I fear. For after all this washing comes the ironing! Ah well, I am trying to see it as exercise, albeit forced!

Poor Ken received a phone call to inform him that some of our cattle were on the Highway again. It is so frustrating as we cannot stop them if our neighbor has no fences up, and the river is low enough for our cattle to stroll across it and then up onto the Highway.

Ken set off on the quad bike with the dogs and he managed to get the cattle back onto our property again He then took as many of the herd as was possible right to the back of the farm, hoping that will stop them getting onto the Highway.

Time will tell.

Ken the fed the bulls and by then it was beyond hot. It was simply boiling. I think it had crept up to 37̊ C and was climbing. It was still 34̊ C at four in the afternoon!

I have had a wonderful day as I listened to some of the one art course and am now ready to begin the work. He has given us a project to complete and I am really looking forward to trying that, although I am always a little nervous too.

I am pushing my boundaries and enjoying it too!

What lesson did I learn today? Enjoy whatever the day holds.

What am I grateful for today? The time I spent listening and watching this particular art course I began today.

My saying for today is …
