Blog for Wednesday 5th November 2025

I woke up with Felix walking all over me at four o'clock! I think he has got into my daily routine and so was waiting for his food and a walk outside!

I cannot believe that I have been here one day short of two weeks - the time has honestly flown by, and I have really had a wonderful rest, and I love looking after Felix as he really is very easy to be with.

After my Quiet Time, shower and getting dressed I went through my photos and videos of my eightieth and sent them to Kerry-Leigh (our eldest in South Africa) and Shelayne (in the USA) as they were unable to be there for it. We had earlier birthday celebrations

for me in the USA when Ken and I were over there as they were there then and were unable to be here in Australia for my birthday. So, I have been celebrating this milestone of a birthday for a l-o-n-g time!

This morning, I left Port' earlier than I had originally planned as Marg' phoned to tell me that she could not get their DVD player to work this morning and so I took my laptop and external DVD player with me. I went early to make sure we could set it up before everyone arrived.

But ... guess what? Everyone arrived early, even my man!

We had a few hiccups with the DVD but eventually got to watch and listen to the first session of the Book of Daniel. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it, so that was a good start.

After which, we had a glorious teatime together. Then I waved a fond farewell to my man and headed back home here. I stopped and bought a few groceries as I will make a large salad and leave it in the fridge, so that Mariaan does not have to worry about a meal when they get home.

Oh! Felix was so happy to greet me at the door when I got home. He really is such a loving cat, and he makes me feel special.

I then started to pack discreetly so I did not upset Felix. I waited until he was outside rolling around on the grass in the sunshine and then put my case away again before he came back in. Talk about being sneaky!

I began dusting and generally tidying and I will vacuum in the morning. But everything is pretty tidy already as I have cleaned, swept and vacuumed before a few times, and with only me and Felix nothing is out of order really.

I think I will unpick the row of my knitting as something has gone wrong on that particular row and I need to correct it now before continuing. Ugh! These rows are so long, so it is a bit of a sweat unpicking, but ... if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well, not so?

What lesson did I learn today? To be prepared!

What am I grateful for today? A circle of really good friends.

My saying for today is ...
