Blog for Wednesday 8th January 2025

Yahee! I was up before four o’clock even though I went to sleep late last night!

Paddy and Tamryn were up early and I think Tamryn left the farm at about seven and headed into Port Macquarie to pick up the grinding machine to skim the concrete floors in  the shed. But once there, they suggested that she come back on Thursday  evening or Friday  morning and we can hire the machine for the weekend and pay for just one day! Marvelous! So, that is what we will do.

While Tamryn was out Paddy and Matt’ began to dissemble all the shelving I the shed, and I began to pack the small loose items around the shed, but had o wait until Tamryn got back with some more plastic containers to complete that.

Paddy and Matt’ put up a huge tarp’ attached to the roller shutter doors and attached to the posts for the shelving (now dissembled) to protect everything from the rain. Of course, we had to have rain when we have to unpack the entire shed! It is what it is \, but our attitude to it will make the difference!

While I was waiting for Tamryn to get back I began to draft all the letters to the primary schools that have SRE teachers in them -  the Authorization Forms. Yoh! I hope I am up to this position! Time will tell.

Yikes! As one of the storms skirted us the wind was horrifically strong, it roared and ripped the large tarp off where Paddy had secured it  to the roller shutter door frame! Great! That meant a change in plan seriously!

While Paddy and Matt’ were deciding how to go about  it, Tamryn and I undid the incredible tangle of hundreds of meters of ropes! Good lesson in patience!

Peter popped over to see what Matt’ and Tamryn need to do next in her home, and then he left, and will go into town with Tamryn tomorrow to help her get what she needs.

Ken left for Wauchope to pick up a ton of fertilizer -  as the guys are hoping to spread it while we get rain. Well, honestly, I am not sure we will get it. I mean today we were meant to be drenched, and I doubt we have had half a mil’!

The guys plus Tamryn moved the shelving posts nearer to the shed and made another plan for using the tarps. Much huff and puff was heard! But as there were more storms threatening to blow, Paddy decided to leave putting up the tarps until it was a lot stiller or they would be ripped to shreds again.

In the afternoon I spent unpacking two cupboards and packing them into the j=huge packing cases that Paddy bought yesterday. I still have a LOT of packing to do, but will finish that tomorrow, as we still have a day before the grinding machine arrives!

Paddy, Matt’ and Tamryn worked on securing her ute’s back, or rather the one side in particular, and they did a good job.

This morning, I watched a little keet (baby guinea fowl) hatch out of its egg. It is incredible to see how hard the poor little thing ahs to work to do that. Then its cheeps very loudly to anyone that will hear.

Hello Big World!

The little guy just out of the egg in the incubator.

Before I began to pack all my art books and games, Tamryn tested the one large packing case for size!

Tamryn testing for size!

For our lunch I made egg and mayo’ sandwiches, and for our supper tonight we are having sausages on bread rolls with tomato sauce or barbeque sauce.

We have all worked the whole day and so my energy levels are non-existence. Simple food to simply fill any gaps in our tummies and that is all!

At one stage of the afternoon, I went up to my studio to begin to do some of the SRE Co-Ordinator work I will have to have done soon. I did it while Paddy, Matt’ and Tamryn were working on the her ute,’ and while Ken slept.

Tonight, all my brothers and sister – (all   five of them) - got together on WhatsApp to honor our Mum who died three years ago – today, had she lived she would have turned one hundred! She was an incredible woman who inspired, encouraged and helped me and all my siblings through life when she was here – a wonderful mother to us for sure!

We each shared a crazy moment of Mum’s life with us that made us laugh – her children, in-laws, and some grandchildren. It was great to see each other again and to just see and hear our different stories. Mum was simply the best Mum. Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother!

What lesson did I learn today? To keep working no matter what messes with our plans for the day.

What am I grateful for today? All the work we got done today.

My saying for today is …
