I slipped out of bed at just after four o’clock this morning and into the darkness. Strange how sometimes it is almost light when I get up and on other days it is still pitch-black outside.

After my Quiet Time I had a lovely hot shower and got dressed for a day in town. Then I woke Ken up.

We eventually left the farm at half past nine and headed into town. Today, we went in the Ute’, something we have not done in simply ages.

The reason for that was that later on our way home we were stopping at Hester and Ernest’s home to pick up the TV cabinet, TV et cetera.

First, we headed straight to the Settlement City centre. There I shot into ‘Just Cuts’ just to get my hair trimmed a weeny bit. While I was doing that Ken went off to the ‘Donut King’ to have. Flat White and donuts and watch the passing parade.

I whipped into a few shops for bits and bobs, then we went on to Aldis for a grocery shop. From there we went to a few more shops, ending at Spotlight where I bought some extra embroidery skeins for my smocking.

We left Port Macquarie and set sail for Hester and Ernest’s home where they (plus Thembi and Rocket – their furry kids) welcomed us with a delicious cup of coffee.

My goodness gracious golly gee! Hester and Earnest’s renovations have made a huge difference to their home, and I love Hester’s new study and their beautiful en suite bathroom. All very swishy!

Thank goodness Ernest had boxes, extra packing and towels to help pack the large TV safely before we loaded it onto the ute’. Eventually everything was back onto the ute – TV, cabinet, bits and pieces and all the groceries rearranged.

We waved our fond farewells, then almost forgot to go to the Rural Centre and had to backtrack to do so!

At last we were on our way home.

We got home at half past four and after unpacking the groceries Ken headed for bed and a late siesta and I put the groceries away

I put the oven on to warm it as I wanted to try a new quiche recipe, but … my oven did not heat at all! It did that fairly recently too and then worked the next time! Very frustrating to say the least.

We were – Ken, our little canine and mwah – were soon tucked up and in bed and fast asleep.

We will ask Paddy and Matt’ to help us unload the TV et cetera off the Ute’ when they get here.

What lesson did I learn today? To grit my teeth and do whatever needs to e done no matter how I feel about doing it!

What am I grateful for today? A beautiful new day to live in.

My saying for today is …
