Australia Day stood waiting silently alongside our bed this morning, waiting for me to wake up to enjoy and celebrate this beautiful land – its people – its culture and our acceptance as citizens on 28 th June 2006! Shoo! What a way to wake up! Shame, Paddy had a horrific night of getting up and down to let out and let in Raafie, because the security sliding door was off its tracks which meant the glass door was shut. The reason the glass door was shut is that we did not wan

I was up and out of our bed bright and early - no, the day was bright not me! I tiptoed around, using my phone torch, made myself a coffee and then proceeded to creak my way up the stairs to my studio to have my Quiet Time. Hile I was still up there I went over my talk for a “Missionary Sunday” before packing it and my Bible for church later. As Ken was on “Welcoming on the Door” at church we left the farm early and on our way out we said,” Good-bye!” to our one set of camper

Yoh! I woke up feeling pain in my body here and there, and I felt like I had been in the tumble drier for weeks on end! Why? Well I dreamt last night and during my dream I reached out to slap the person stealing my glasses but the object I thought I was using as my weapon was not solid and so I lost my balance and went flying – and that was obviously why I landed with a terrible thud onto the floor alongside our bed, dazed and not knowing where I was or what I was doing. “Happy Birthday to my youngest brother, ‘Rick, who lives in the UK today!” We are hoping that he is spoilt rotten, has an incredibly happy day and enjoys every minute of his special day today. (‘Rick is about sixteen years younger than I am.) I shot out of bed as my alarm began her ditty – as I did not want to wake anyone up. I was fast asleep when Paddy and Tamryn arrived last night, but I knew they were here as I saw all the groceries that Paddy had brought up with them on

A new day was busy sneaking across the sky in the distance, unseen by me yet at four o’clock in the morning, but soon enough the sky brightened and there was the new day I had been waiting for! I made myself a coffee and went up to my studio to have e my Quiet Time. Yahee! This morning, I finished reading the whole book of Genesis and will begin the Book of Job tomorrow. Yoh! I cannot believe how fast time is flitting by – one day seems to dissolve into the next, into the nex

Oh no! My body yelled silently when my alarm clock began her horrible little early morning ditty. I could not believe my time for sleeping was over for today. I managed to shuffle out of our bedroom without sulking and made myself a mug of coffee and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time. I must admit I love my Quiet Time, so that’s what propels me out of bed every single morning. I cannot think of a time when I have not got up. Maybe when I have had an allergic reaction

It is a “Happy Birthday Robert!” to day – Robert being one of our three sons-in-law. I phoned him later in the morning as it is his birthday after all, no need to wake the man up when I got up! I can honestly tell you that I did not bounce out of bed smiling at four o’clock this morning, Nah, it was more like a shuffle with eyes still closed that happened! I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, and I am so enjoying going through the Bible – the Two-Year course – again.

I leapt out of bed as my alarm began to chime – talk about being keen to live in this new day! I went up to my studio and had my Quiet Time and watched the new day slowly seep across the sky under the heavy grey overcast skies. Yahee! We had a few showers overnight and we had 21mm of rain – so we are slowly adding up the drops and over the last few days we have had almost 89mm – which is about 3.5 inches! That must help the pastures grow well. Today has been a gray sort of da

I woke up and slipped out of bed and was delighted to be greeted by the shushing sound of soft rain tap-tapping on our tin roof. Wonderful! It was a marvelous way to start a new day. I toddled up to my studio and had my Quiet Time. I had no paraphernalia to take to church as I was not on duty anywhere. Ken was, but he was not feeling well so he asked another guy to stand in for him today and Ken will do his duty next time. Before I went to shower, I went outside to check the

Today's 3-year-olds can switch on laptops and open their favourite apps. When I was 3, I ate mud! A new dawned and I hopped out of bed at four o’clock this morning, went up to my studio and had my Quiet Time. When it was light enough to see outside, I looked out and admired the farm which had been washed by the rain overnight and was looking refreshed and all the colors seemed even brighter. It was going to be another good day! After my Quiet Time I tidied the kitchen area an

My feet hit the floor at twenty past four this morning. Yes-yes, so what – I slept in for a few minutes! Sometimes those few minutes make all the difference to me. I made myself a coffee and then went up to my studio to have my Quies I have decided to rather join Tony Perkins again for another Two-Year Chronological Walk through the Bible, so I will still be doing the New Testament for six months this year and I will cut back on the Proverbs I was doing daily. I woke up at half past one, turned over and then later shot out of bed like a scalded cat at four o’clock this morning thinking I had overslept by hours! Ah-ha! What a lovely sound – the pitter-patter of raindrops on our tin roof – wonderful! I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, and I was smiling, I am sure. We needed this rain desperately as the grass and pastures are yellow and crisp, producing very little for our cattle to eat. The weathermen have predicted rain f

Well, it is a very, very “Happy Birthday Jill!” to day! Jill is one of my good friends and who is a faithful reader of my blogs. “Jill, we hope you have a really wonderful day celebrating your special day. Enjoy!” I sort of rolled out of bed at just after four o’clock this morning and then did everything in slow motion style! I went upstairs to my studio to have my Quiet Time, and I also did some studies before going downstairs to do the washing. Once that was done, I hung it

Last night I was convinced it was time for me to get up but when I checked my i-phone it was only twenty to twelve – almost the middle of the night. I soon dropped off to sleep again thankfully! I was up just after four this morning and our rooster, Cock-a-Doodle Doo begins his crowing as soon as I turn the lights on. Actually, yesterday I gave him a firm klop on the side of his head, because he was chasing after me when I went to check the rain gauge. It took him a few secon

A new day arrived in the dark. I stumbled out of bed and into the darkness. It was four o’clock in the morning and … what was that I heard? Rain! Beautiful solid rain falling from the still dark sky above us. What a marvelous sound that was. Later, after my Quiet Time, and when I fed the birds – guinea fowl and chooks – I checked the rain gauge – we had had 17mm of glorious rain overnight! Oh, what a lovely feeling. We still need much more rain to break this long dry period,

Pick me! I was quick to silence my alarm this morning, before I got out of bed just after four o’clock to begin my day. It was a cooler morning but the stickiness or humidity from yesterday still lingered in the air. I made myself a coffee and went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time. Then I got my paraphernalia together for my Kids Talk in church. Before we left the farm this morning, Ken loaded the quad bike – the one that was here, (the other one is at the mechanic’s p

The first thing when I woke up this morning, I thought about my friend and her husband down in Victoria – as they still had no idea whether they have lost everything in the fires that swept through Victoria and possibly their showpiece of a farm, animals and magnificent garden and home. Terribly stressful time for them both and my heart goes out to them. Gail – my friend – and I grew up as little girls in Monzi, - a farming community which is in Zululand, South Africa. We, in

Oh no! That dreadful ditty began alongside my bed at four o’clock this morning. It was time for me to rise and shine. Well, I did the rise bit, but the shine had to come a lot later! I tried not to make too much noise as I climbed the creaking stairs up to my studio to have my Quiet Time. I do not think I woke either Paddy or Matt’ as I did so. After my Quiet Time I could hear Paddy moving around in t the kitchen making coffee so I went down and joined him. I was still in my

Today would have been our precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother's birthday had she still been with us. I miss her terribly. She was an incredible human being. Tring-tring-tring! I sat up and made some wild swings in the direction of my i-phone on my bedside table in order to stop the noise. It was 3.45am and it was not my alarm but a phone call. I switched it off as my eyes could not focus and I thought if it was important they would phone me back. Who on earth w

T-r-i-n-g! T-r-i-n-g! Ah! THAT ditty again – time for me to roll out of bed, and I did so quickly. I had a quiet giggle to myself because when I slipped on my sandals and tried to walk out our bedroom, I felt terribly lopsided – such a strange feeling when you are only half awake! I discovered I had two different shoes on! One was a high heeled wedge shoe and the other a flat sandal! So, no wonder I felt lopsided. What a Wally I am! But a nice way to wake up giggling! I went
