I did the whole slow motion getting-out-of-bed this morning – you know the long legs s-t-r-e-t-c-h while still in bed, the slow blink-blinking and then the stretching of the arms above the head followed by the ever so slow roll out of bed. Then it was a one-two-three step into my study to have my Quiet Time and begin my day. Today I decided that after my usual housekeeping, cleaning, washing or whatever, I would listen and watch some of my art course and maybe do some of the

Yep! I agree! I woke up at twenty past three this morning and squinting at the alarm clock I thought it was a quarter past five so vacated our bed promptly! Oh, dearie me! Ken was still fast asleep, so I presumed that he had had a good night’s sleep as I was unaware of his having tossed or turned during the night, but then … I sleep deeply and seldom move or wake during the night unless dreaming or whacking my poor unsuspecting man in my sleep! I had my Quiet Time, uploaded m

I woke up at ten to four this morning without any alarm ringing in my ear as I was able to turn it off before it could do that! Hah! A new day had arrived, so I slipped into my study to have my Quiet Time, upload my blog and check emails. Today Ken goes into hospital to have his eye op’ and I am excited for him as it will make a huge difference to his sight and therefore life. Then hopefully he will also get his other eye done next month which will be wonderful for our cruise

I think that this is a brilliant idea – must show Ken! I shot out of bed at the speed of light – why? – I have absolutely no idea why or what caused that spurt of energy at that time of the morning! Seeing I was up bright eyed and bushy tailed I went into my study to have my Quiet Time, upload my blog for yesterday and check emails. Then I woke Ken up at eight thirty as he needed to find out what time we have to be at the hospital tomorrow for his eye op – as we had had no

Blog for Sunday 26th July 2026
My day began in the wee small hours of this morning when I staggered out of our bedroom into my study to have my Quiet Time, upload my blog and check my emails. Originally Mich’ and Robert were coming over for a cup of tea with us today when we got home after church. Then Ren’ also asked if she could pop over to visit us for a cup of tea too, but … in the end neither of those parties could visit us! Mich’ and Robert decided to have a serious workday at home clearing out their

Oh my herb! We are almost at the end of July – that is halfway through 2026 already! I don’t know about you, but time is whizzing past at the speed of light for me! Scary stuff! I rolled out of bed a lot later than normal this morning and slowly shuffled into my study to have my Quiet Time. In fact, I was on a “go-slow” sort of day as I was still in my pyjamas at half past nine this morning! Tsch! What a wicked wench! Hey, folks! That is what retirement is all about – relax a

Today would have been my Dad’s birthday – but he has long gone from our world. I miss him. I got up and had my Quiet Time, read my emails, uploaded my blog and began my day in the wee hours of today! Today I was determined to win this battle of getting my tax refund, if at all possible! I gritted the teeth, slapped on a positive look on the face and summoned up all the energy and positive vibes I could find lying around. I began by endeavoring to try the ATO online again but

“Happy 32nd Wedding Anniversary! To Mich’ and Robert today. Wow, where have all those years gone? Incredible. Mich’ had offered to take us to breakfast early this morning before she started work, but Ken was not keen to be out of bed in the small hours of today. So, Mich’ picked me up at seven o’clock and we set sail for a rather nice restaurant right in the heart of Gosford itself, called ‘South End Social Café’ . I was super impressed how quickly the Gosford area is growing

I slept in – and gladly so as I had had a night of vivid dreaming which sometimes leaves me really tired out. I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog, and answered emails. Then I set face like flint towards sorting out my tax refund request! Yes, wonderful plan but have you ever tried working on MyGov; My ID and ATO apps? Need I say anything? Yikes, I know that I am a patient person but even this tested me beyond my testing ability! I tried, tried, tried and tried some more and

If life gives you melons, you might be dyslexic I woke up five minutes before my alarm began her ditty and I was ready for a brand-new day!\ I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and checked my emails. My normal early morning routine was then followed by exercises – I am doing Thai Chi – the seated and walking routines -and I am thrilled to say that I am losing in size. I am not sure about weight as I have no scale here. Today I seem to do nothing but fight my way by scrollin

I slept in this morning by simply rolling over and sleeping for a little longer than usual! I had my Quiet Time then unpacked the dishwasher, tidied the kitchen and planned my day. Today I have planned a cleaning schedule for our little home – just to do something each day to make sure that our home stays sparkling and squeaky clean always! Today being Monday: Is the Cleaning of the Bathroom: · Wipe down counter and mirror. § Clean shower, bath and basin. § Clean to

I was up early – had my Quiet Time – then showered and dressed before waking Ken up. We left home just at about a quarter past nine and headed for the Green Point Baptist Church, where the Sunday service begins at nine thirty. I think we will be joining this church as Ken prefers it, but I will still attend Hope UC for the Women’s Group and to teach Sunday School there too. There are so many ex-South Africans in this church Green Point Baptist church it is unbelievable! Afte

I rolled out of bed into the new day effortlessly as I had had a good night’s sleep and was ready for whatever this new day held for me. I had my Quiet Time, showered and dressed a little earlier than normal as my sister was arriving at nine o’clock to take me out to for a morning coffee and chinwag. She arrived just before nine o’clock to pick me up. I kissed Ken and left him to sleep on for a little while us two sisters went out for a coffee. Dee took me to one of the littl

Yahee! A new day arrived at our front door, and it was a Friday too. How wonderful! I hopped out of bed with a spring in my step and headed towards my study to have my Quiet Time and start my day. Although today was overcast, grey and lumpy of sky I decided that I would go for a quick walk and if I got wet, so be it! I set off at a brisk pace and just walked around the block – something I had not yet done, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how close we are to the water be

I turned my alarm off – I have it set to beautiful soft music and have also added the “Snooze” option in case I want a few extra minutes sleep. Now, what on earth makes you think that I am slowing down, hmm? Today I endeavored to try and claim tax that I paid which I should not have done, but … hoo-boy! Talk about getting lost in the woods for the trees and all that! Yikes! Getting on and understanding these government apps is a nightmare for me! So, I even tried phoning – cr

I shot out of bed at four o’clock with my body muttering unintelligible (thankfully!) sentences. I had my Quiet Time and then at about half past eight I showered and got dressed to meet the ex-South African group at “Cheeky Charlies”. Ken did not want to come with me and that is understandable as it is mainly women who attend these gatherings – all of them widows. Us ladies – (I introduced my new friend Kathi – also an ex-South African to this group last time) – had a great t

This morning I woke up at twenty to three, turned over and slept until four o'clock exactly - on the dot - before getting out of bed. I got up and had my Quiet Time, and then did some washing, finished chopping up the butternut I bought yesterday, sorted the fridge out, and had some breakfast – just cereal and sliced banana. Ken was originally going back and up to the farm with Matt’ today but he changed his mind as Paddy did not really need his help this weekend, he said. I

I was up bright and early and had my Quiet Time. Then I zipped through the shower and got dressed before I got Ken up. Mich’ and Robert picked us up just after eight o’clock and we went to church with them. The church service was at 8.30am I LOVED the sermon – a young pastor gave an excellent talk – he had prepared well, spoke clearly and well with dashes of humour in it too. Very good, but Ken does not like the loud music and wants to attend the Baptist church which he feels

Anyway, I had my Quiet Time, showered, got dressed and set off for the Post Office just before nine o’clock at a lickety-spit speed. I handed in my Passport Renewal form and photos and the guy

Hey! Can you believe it – today is Ken’s and my 61st Wedding Anniversary – shoo! Where have all those years gone? Like a swift breeze – come and gone! Quite incredible really. Ken suggested that we go out for lunch to celebrate our milestone day! But in the end, he was tired and slept until late and by then I was whacked and it was cold and threatening more rain, so I said to leave going out we can go out for lunch tomorrow rather. One really lovely surprise today was that Sh
