My day began at the usual time - four o'clock int he morning. It was very dark as obviously there was heavy cloud cover - and there was. Shortly after I got up the rain fell hard but only for a very short time. Good! That would break this heat wave a little I thought.
I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time and thankfully I did not have any duties at church today, so I needed no paraphernalia to take with me.
I went downstairs later to have a shower and get myself dressed for the day. I woke Ken up at eight o'clock and he got himself ready but with much huff and puff as his ribs were very sore, poor guy.
I drove the two of us over the river to my little car and then from there into Wauchope, and we got to church with at least five minutes plus to spare, that allowed Ken to catch up with a lot of people about his fall.
As I have been asked to sort of ab lib for the Children's Puppet Show in church next week about which I knew diddley squat, so, I went down to Sunday School today to listen to what the story is about for this show. Basically, it is the Christmas story but told very differently by the children, with many errors in the telling and I have to correct the errors and re-tell the story for the sake of the congregation! Should be a challenge for me, I'd say! Hopefully I can pull it off!
After church I took Ken up to the hospital for the sister in there to re-dress his hand and give him his Tetanus injection. When I checked Ken in, I noted that the waiting room was pretty full so, I sat outside on a bench and was almost blown away by the wind that came before the one storm. But at least it was cooler.
Pam, the sister looking after Ken came out to call me in and she told me that I must make haste to the chemist and get him the strong painkillers (that Ken would not get the other day,) plus another medicine too. So, I high tailed it off to the chemist and got there a few minutes before they closed and got said medicines for my man.
When I exited the chemist, the heavens opened up, and the rain pelted down for a few minutes and then ... out popped the sunshine again! Crazy weather.
I then drove back to the hospital and picked Ken up as he was ready and sitting on the bench I had been sitting on earlier.
We stopped at Ritchies for me to grab a few groceries and then it was home again, home again jiggety-jog!
We had a few spits and spots of rain on our drive back home but on the whole, it did not look as if we had any rain whatsoever when we got back here to the farm. But then at about four o'clock it began to rain here a lovely soft soaking rain.
Paddy's trees - the ones he has not been able to plant yet, were looking so much happier as it was cooler and the rain washed their leaves nice and clean. So, today I did not need to water them.
Once home, Ken headed off to bed to rest and sleep. I did some Bible studying - something I love doing and will make it a Sunday afternoon habit. It was so nice to be doing something I love doing and at the same time listening to the rain pitter-pattering down on our tin roof. A happy feeling.
The day slowly-slowly dribbled away, but before it did, I checked the rain gauge - we only had 6.5mm of rain up until then, but it was such lovely soaking rain, that I am sure it did a lot of good even if not a lot of rain had fallen.
I hopped into bed nice and early and was soon sound asleep. Another happy day in my life well spent.
What lesson did I learn today? To enjoy the small things in life - the sound of rain on our tin roof. The smell of the earth after the rain. The healthy look of clean leaves that have been rain washed.
What am I grateful for today? The beautiful rain.
My saying for today is ...
