Blog for Sunday 4th October 2026

W-e-l-l, I began my day with what I thought was great efficiency – I sent a birthday ecard to one of my friends and I was delighted that I was so organized, but … it turned out that her birthday is still in two days and NOT on today! Oh dear! No more to say! ‘Sorry Lindie!”
Ken and I showered and dressed and left the unit just after nine o’clock to get to church on time. At least we remembered to put our clocks an hour forward for Daylight Savings.
Tsch! My wrist watch battery has run out so I will have to get a new battery sometime this coming week. It is so irritating not having it work as I did not realise how much I rely on it.
The church service was good – one of the young pastors took the sermon and he presented it well. After which Ken and I had a coffee and chatted to our friends outside. I really like this church and we have settled in well and made some good friends.
Onour way home we stopped at Coles and I got a few groceries before driving us back home.
Once home, I had high ideas of doing all the ironing, filling in more forms, blah blah fish paste, but then I decided that “What the heck, it was a Sunday and a long weekend, so to kick back you ole dear.”
I did!
I went and sat outside as it was such a beautiful day and read my book, listened to the birds calling to one another. I am amazed at the bird life around here as I did not expect to see or hear so many different birds in town.
Here is a photo of the dear old bush turnkey that comes up to us for his wild bird seed every day. Actually, even the ducks love the wild bird seed!

Ken had a lovely long sleep today and I just read and read and read.
Oh no, that is not quite true, I also did some cross stitching. I want to get it to a stage where it will be easy to pick up and continue. At the moment it is really difficult as there are a LOT of colors being used, and serious counting of stitches is required. Once I achieve get to an easier place, I will pack it away and take it with us on the cruise in case I have spare time to do it there.
I should have done so many things today but instead I gave myself time out which I thoroughly enjoyed.
For supper I made creamy chicken and bacon served with veggies, but Ken was not hungry as he had just drunk a large glass of his beloved iced coffee, but I enjoyed my meal!
I crawled into bed with Ken and I watched “The Block” on my phone – oh how I love that renovation show.
What lesson did I learn today? What joy reading brings to me.
What am I grateful for today? That I was privileged to have been taught to read and write as a little girl.
My saying for today is …
