Blog for Friday 25th April 2025

I am sure we all have days like that – when one’s ducks are in grand disarray! Mine are more often than not!

Apart from today being the day we celebrate ANZAC Day here in Australia, it is also my niece’s birthday – “Happy Birthday Margs’, we hope you have a really good one!”

I got up a little later than normal this morning and had  my Quiet Time still downstairs, but I planned to move all my paraphernalia back up to my studio today.

I need all my thing-a-lingies around me as I will be starting to prepare for SRE lessons, and our Bible Study Group get togethers too. All my Bibles, notes, books, SRE curriculum, dictionaries, commentaries and so on are up there, and it is just easier to have them near to hand.

I had thought about doing some washing today but decided that it can wait until tomorrow as I think there is a less chance of rain then.

We only had 3.5mm of rain overnight, so hopefully the river goes down quick smart as I need to get Ken to the specialist on Wednesday.

I spent the whole of this morning going through all the Travel Insurance companies to try and find one in our price range and who covers the basic needs we could possibly want covered. After almost becoming cross-eyed with reading though all the screeds of hoo-hah I think I have managed to whittle them down and will make my final choice after I speak to them on the phone on Monday.

Shoo! I am thrilled to have done that now. So, basically all we have to do is pack nearer the time of our departure to Seattle in the USA!~ I have got our tickets, the two lots of visas we will need and now the travel insurance.

Oops! Maybe we will need money! I will still have to organize that with our bank.

In the afternoon I took all my paraphernalia back up to my studio and got settled back there again. I really love this little room of mine.

Tonight, I am going to make us a new dish for our supper – if it works out I will give you the recipe. Actually, there is a frittata I would like to try soon, but I need to buy some of the ingredients before I can try it.

It was a nice light meal and would be lovely served cold in summer … I think. (I used spaghetti as I did not have any cellophane noodles.)

Chicken Noodle Salad

Stand a packet of cellophane noodles in warm water for 15minutes. Put the shredded cooked barbecue chicken in a bowl. Add some bean sprouts, grated carrot and sliced spring onions. Drain noodles, add to bowl. Mix 2spoonfuls of Sweet Chilli Sauce, some Thai Fish Sauce, grated ginger and juice of a lime in a jar, shake well. Toss through the noodles. Top with coriander and cashews.

We both enjoyed it as it was something slightly different.

What lesson did I learn today? To plot, plan and then do the work!

What am I grateful for today? That I have found a good Travel Insurance for our trip.

My saying for today is …
