Blog for Monday 5th January 2026

I woke up at four o’clock and rolled out of bed at ten past four – delaying the getting out of bed bit for a little longer! Silly really, as I love getting up early.

I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time and then I worked on my Kids Talk – or rather I decided what I will talk about on Sunday for the children – which Bible story to tell.  Now I need to work on how I will deliver that! I will, in odd moments throughout the week, continue to work on my talk.

I had a lot of washing to do today. I did four loads and carried them out one by one and they dried very quickly.

Ken left the farm fairly early this morning with the other quad bike loaded for our friend Norm’ in Wauchope to fix, and not long after Ken left me, he phoned me, but the line was terrible – very scratchy and feint, so he had to phone me again a little further along his way.

Luckily, I got myself dressed then as originally, I had planned to stay in my ‘jamas to do all the housework and then shower and get dressed, but something told me to do that first. So, I did.

I had hardly got myself dressed when there was a knock on our glass front door – it was a young man – Noah – who often comes out to fish, camp, and swim on the farm. And with Noah were three of his friends! So, I said a silent thank you prayer that I had not been caught in my ‘jamas.

It was very close though!

Ken phoned a little later to tell me that he had forgotten to tell me that Noah was coming out to the farm for the day and he (Ken that is,) had seen Noah’s vehicle tracks on his way out and that is what reminded Ken that he had not told me!

All is well, that ends well!

Exciting news – our oldest grandson Jase (Jason) in the USA, has got engaged to such a lovely girl Mikayla. We met Mikayla when we visited Shelayne et famille last year in July/August. I am really so happy for them – they will make a lovely couple. Wow! Our family is growing up so fast!

At about three o’clock I brought all the dry washing in and did the ironing. Such a good girl! It took me just over an hour and then I put it all away.

I am so happy, the portable air con’ that I bought and was so disappointed with actually works well in our bedroom, so I set it up so that when Ken got home our bedroom was beautifully cool for him to take his siesta in.

Every time I took a short break for a cuppa or a drink of water, I thought about my Kids Talk and how to present it. I still have a LOT of work to do on it, but I have time on my side, and if I do a little each day, I will get it done in time.

Tonight, we had a cold supper – different cold meats like ham, sliced steaks and lamb, potato mayonnaise salad, tossed salad, beetroot, baked beans and bread rolls. I need to clear out the fridges again and make sure that I am not forgetting something that needs to be eaten chop-chop.

Yahee! Two of the books I ordered arrived in the post today. I love books and these two are a wonderful addition to my incredible library of biblical study books.

What lesson did I learn today? Set a goal. Write it down. Plan how to accomplish the task. Take baby steps to achieve your goal and you will achieve it.

What am I grateful for today? That I am up to date again with my washing and ironing.

My saying for today is …
