Blog for Saturday 17th January 2026

My feet hit the floor at twenty past four this morning. Yes-yes, so what – I slept in for a few minutes! Sometimes those few minutes make all the difference to me.

I made myself a coffee and then went up to my studio to have my Quies

I have decided to rather join Tony Perkins again for another Two-Year Chronological Walk through the Bible, so I will still be doing the New Testament for six months this year and I will cut back on the Proverbs I was doing daily. I will still do them daily but not to the depth I was doing to as it takes too much time, as the other studies are deep enough and take time to do.

After my Quiet Time I went downstairs and as soon as Ken woke up, I shoo-ed him out unceremoniously – poor man - of our bedroom as I needed to continue my grand spring- cleaning operation in there today.

I still had the last half of my cupboard to complete and organize, then it was major clean up on Ken’s side of the room.

My cupboard neat

First, I climbed up on a chair so I could get to the top of the cupboards where I swept, dusted, wiped, and dried them. Yoh! We have overactive spiders here and I destroyed many webs that had been spun secretly behind articles on the top of the cupboards! Wretched industrious creatures.

I spent ages and ages going through all my bits and pieces of jewelry. I have all my earring, bracelets, brooches, and necklaces colour code and in separate containers. But there were also some necklaces that were badly tangled and talk about overwinds in fishing – they had nothing on these tangles! But I persisted and got them all undone. It was a really good patience developing exercise!

I have put aside the broken bracelets or necklaces made up of different beads as I would really like to re-do them. It would give me great pleasure to do so, as they are ones that I have loved and had forever and a day.

I put aside all my old glasses and watches too and will take them to wherever one takes them to when we are in town next.

In the afternoon Ken took some silage out to our cattle, and I stood at the kitchen window and watched the Pied Piper action happening, with all our bovines hot-footing it after Ken on the tractor loaded with their silage. There they were tripping the light fantastic, almost giggling with glee at the sight of more silage!

I hope these recent rains will get the pastures growing quickly as our cattle need feed.

After all that heavy sweaty, sticky and dusty work, and hours and hours of cleaning and tidying I went and had wonderfully hot shower and put my ‘jamas on at just after five o’clock.

Working hours were then over for the day!

I grilled some steak and served them with poached eggs in a cheese sauce with some peas on the side. So, not a heavy meal and we ate early.

Yoh! At twenty past five the heavens opened and the rain simply bucketed down hard. I hope we got a lot of rain today. I check the rain gauge every morning at nine o’clock normally, so will check it then.

As it is a Saturday night, I think I will find a nice movie and watch it in bed.

I am very pleased with how much I got done in our bedroom today. I still have one more day to finish it off properly. I have to leave Ken to do his cupboard with his medicines, magazines, books and hoo-hah, but I will do his clothes cupboard for him.

What lesson did I learn: To keep on keeping on.

What am I grateful for today: More rain.

What my saying is today …
