Yoh! I woke up feeling pain in my body here and there, and I felt like I had been in the tumble drier for weeks on end! Why?

Well I dreamt last night and during my dream I reached out to slap the person stealing my glasses but the object I thought I was using as my weapon was not solid and so I lost my balance and went flying – and that was obviously why I landed with a terrible thud onto the floor alongside our bed, dazed and not knowing where I was or what I was doing.

Ken kindly asked me if I was okay, and I replied in the affirmative and climbed back into bed post haste! But I had whacked my side and my one wrist something horrid!

Thinking of scary happenings, I did not tell you about yesterday now did I?

Paddy was down at the river on the bank, winding up the electric tape that our bovines had unkindly traipsed and draped all over the show. As he stood there winding it all up – meters and meters of it, there was a sudden movement in the grass in front of him and to the one side, which he caught out the corner of his eye – yep, you got it! A dirty two-meter brown snake on our side of the river! It had raised itself up and was threatening to strike at Paddy. Oh, foolish snake, Paddy will not forget that, should you meet again!

Now, Paddy is not scared of snakes like I am!, and as a vet’ he has had to attend to pet snakes in different clinics, but he got such a fright, that he levitated and only when he landed with a thud on the ground a few meters away from said snake, did he realize that he had! Shoo, I would have still been treading air way up yonder and stuttering so badly you would not understand what I was telling you!

I am not happy about it being a brown snake as we normally only have the red belly blacks on our side of the river. In! truth, I could do without any of them – red bellied, orange, yellow, pink, brown or striped!

This morning, we all started a little later than normal, which was okay by me. I only had my Quiet Time at five o’clock and I eventually did go downstairs to have a coffee with Paddy and Tamryn, then I showered and dressed for the day.

Tamryn was busy studying, Paddy was out fencing, Ken was resting and after sweeping and mopping our living area, and putting on a load of washing, I embroidered the bullion roses on the second sleeve of Zara’s smocked dress. Yahee!

In the afternoon I sat outside as there was a lovely breeze out there and it was still so hot. While I was out there I put on some eggs to boil for cold hard boiled eggs later, and I cooked the potatoes to for a cold potato mayo salad, I will serve a cold supper tonight – cold roast chicken chopped up, smoked cold, brisket sliced, the remains of the cheesy tuna pasta, also cold. I will make a tossed mixed salad, and a bowl of baked beans and that all with some garlic bread …

While I was busy doing nothing really outside Paddy changed the battery in the ute' and charged the tractor's battery, which means I will not have to push the ute' to push start it! Wonderful!

Then in the early evening Jase, Noah and Kira arrived to camp on the farm, and they always bring us a gift of some kind as a ‘Thank you!’ even though we have told them that they do not have to do that. This evening, they brought us two kilos of fresh cooked prawns from Yamba off the trawlers! Absolutely beautiful and oh-so yummy. I quickly made a seafood sauce to go with them and we pigged out!

Jase and family decided to camp down on the river crossing for a change, and after coming in and having a brief chat with us, they headed off to settle down for the night.

Slowly we all peeled off and headed for our respective beds too. It was time to sleep and I did so gladly.

What lesson did I learn today?  To live in the moment and enjoy it.

What was I grateful for today? The beautiful gift of fresh prawns which were so delicious!

My saying for today is …
