Blog for Saturday 25th October 2025

ree

I woke up several times last night - I think just because we were in an unfamiliar home - different sounds et cetera, but I soon dropped off to sleep which was good.

I only rolled out of bed at about five o'clock, and I tiptoed through to the study to write my blog and have my Quiet Time.

Once Mich' was awake too we had a coffee, watched some TV then showered and got dressed for a morning in town.

We went to Aldis to get some groceries and then on to Settlement City where we had a coffee. Whilst we there enjoying our coffees, Lois and Ken, (friends of mine from church,) stopped by and had a chat with us, which was nice.

Oh yes! Before I forget, as we -that is Mich' and I - were walking into the centre itself someone behind me called, "Gail! Gail!" Then I whipped around to see who it was - it was Trudi - also an ex-South African who had kindly stood in for me for two nights to watch over Felix the feline, as I was still down the coast celebrating my eightieth with Mich'. Mich's one gift to me was to take me away for a week by the seaside. What a fantastic break it was too!

When we got back 'home' here, we decided to chill for a bit - I did a cryptic puzzle and Mich' read her book for a while.

Then I made us a large pot of homemade veggie soup for supper and Mich' had bought us each a creme caramel for our dessert! Oh! They were ever so yummy! I put the remaining soup into the fridge which will provide me with several meals down the track.

We watched some more TV together before heading off to bed to have a good sleep.

Oh, my goodness, gracious, golly. gee! I am going to miss Mich's company - and it will be very quiet here with just Felix and me, but I will get a lot done, I am sure. Ken will be meeting me at church tomorrow to give me my car and all the things I need - my Bible studies, stuff for SRE classes, art materials, knitting, extra wool and blah-blah-blah fishpaste! So, I will have plenty to do.

What lesson did I learn today? To enjoy the moments I get to spend with members of our family wherever, whenever.

What am I grateful for today? The time I have been able to spend with Mich' - it is not that often that one gets opportunity to spend time alone with your grownup children, who are married, and have children of their own.

My saying for today is ...
