We only had 1mm of rain overnight, but … oh dear! The weathermen have predicted 90% chance of 20 – 40mm overnight today! That will definitely put a stop to out getting off the farm for a few more days then!
I had my Quiet Time up in my studio and Raafie came up to check on what I was doing before he went back to bed with Ken! Oh, he loves sleeping that little hound, and preferably in a warm bed with someone to snuggle up to.
This morning, I piled all the ruined bedding that got wet in the one wooden box that was outside and made a fire outside to get rid of it all. That’s life – you win some and you lose some, not so? But we will no longer have a need for so many beds, so I need less bedding anyway!
This morning or rather it was at midday, I had my first shot at taking off and putting on Ken’s pressure socks. Shoo! Much huff and puff from me as I have arthritis in both my thumbs and they were needed big time in this task. But … hey, in the end I managed to do it well and Ken was comfortable which is the main thing.
This morning, I spent quite a bit of time preparing a large slow cooker of chicken and vegetable soup. The prep work always takes time, but it really is worth it. I use about twelve different veggies and some chicken so that I know that I know, it is good for us. Once it is done Ken and I have it for several days or I freeze some.
I also did three loads of washing although I could not hang it out to dry what with all that rain about to arrive. Tsch! I will have to use the tumble drier again, I guess.
With the rain predicted for today, we will not be attending church tomorrow. Again, we will be absent – shoo, I really WILL need my name badge when we next get back to church as people will have forgotten who we are by then! Ha!
In the afternoon I did a little more of my baby shawl – every stitch is a stitch nearer to completing it. So even baby steps will get me there., plus determination and persistence.
Ken is walking a lot better today, and he even did a few short walks without the walker as support. Eureka! Progress is happening! I am so excited for Ken to be able to move about again without pain as it will make a huge difference to his enjoyment of the farm and on our trip to the USA later this year.
One of our friends, Pam, from church phoned to check on Ken’s progress as she herself had a hip replacement done fairly recently, by the same specialist as did Ken's. Pam and Ken agrees, said that he is a wonderful specialist and she is very pleased with her hip replacement. She had nothing but praise for the man.
As much as I do not feel like or want to dwell on, I think ,I must do another two rows of crochet around my baby shawl before I do the fancy edging. Ngrr! Talk about lessons in patience, determination, and persistence all at once!
What lesson did I learn today: Patience; determination and persistence!
What am I grateful for today? That we did not have much rain during the day, but oh-dear, it pelted down in the early evening and during the night..
My saying for today is …
