Blog for Saturday 6th February 2026

“Happy Birthday Tayla!” for the second day running! Silly me sending her ecard et cetera yesterday instead of today.  My age was showing again!

I woke up at just after three o’clock, which seems to be my sleep pattern lately, and then was delighted to be able to turn over for the last few minutes and snooze a little longer before four o’clock arrived promptly!

I had my Quiet Time at four o’clock this morning and then stayed up in my studio to make sure that Paddy slept in this morning. I did not want to go downstairs again as the creaking, cracking and squeaking of the staircase would wake him up.

Yahee! Paddy said that he had a really, good sleep last night and hopefully he will be able to do a lot of work inside today and not get toasted or roasted by working outside.

I washed some of the cushions covers and a throw from our living room area this morning, as Raafie loves snuggling into them and when he is dirty, so are the cushion covers!

We have friends coming to the farm tomorrow to pay us a visit, so I needed to wash the cushion covers again. They will soon be paper thin as I have to wash them often, per kind favor of canine, Raafie!

I did several hours of ironing and so now I am feeling positively angelic again. I do not know why I do, because in a few days’ time I will have to repeat said exercise again! I think it is because it is a goal I have achieved, no matter how small it is.

As it was another hot day today, I put the air con’ on and brought my laptop downstairs to work where it was cooler. Upstairs in my studio which is close to the roof where the sun was beating down without mercy.

Whoop-la-doeps! I had a new credit (I get one a month) for an audio book this morning so I have downloaded a Liane Moriarty book to listen to. I think that is something I will begin to listen to today. I did. I listened to it for about half an hour in the afternoon before sweeping and mopping in the bathroom and beginning tidying our living area – dusting and polishing. The rest I will do in the morning.

I asked Ken and Paddy to finish off the veggies and the steaks from last night for supper tonight. I ate at lunch time as I wanted to go to bed very early tonight.

I did.

I had planned to watch some TV or read a book, but I was too tired for either and chose to sleep. I was soon safely in the Land of Nod.

What lesson did I learn today? Persistence. Ironing teaches me that!

What am I grateful for today? Air con’ – what a blessing for when it so hot.

My saying for today is …
