I was awake at three o’clock and then up and four o’clock this morning.
I went through to my study to have my Quiet Time and noticed that my new laptop was “dead” – an absolutely blank screen. Honestly, my heart sank right down to beneath the floor tiles.
I tried every trick I knew in the book to get my laptop to work, but nope, no can do lady! Whistle Dixie and find something to be positive about and all that!
I tried to remember where I had put the guarantee receipt, and realized that it would be on the farm somewhere! Filed, I am quite certain, in a very, very safe place!
Ah well, no time to fret and stress as I had to shower, get dressed and prepare as much as I could for our brunch with Mich’, Robert and Josh’ later.
I set the table et cetera and got things out that I would need to create a nice brunch for the five of us. Mihc'c, Robert and Josh' were coming over after church.
Then we headed off to church. One of the young pastor’s preached today and he delivered a fantastic sermon on the need for community. As an illustration of this he had people handing out a card to each person in the congregation and we had to write our Christian name on the card, what we were thankful for in our life and what we needed God to give us. Then they collected everyones card and shuffled them and then handed one back to each person in the congregation for us to pray for them and what they needed from God for this week. I thought it was wonderful thing to show us the power of community.
After church we had a quick coffee and then headed off to the shops as I needed bread, butter, orange juice and tissues.
Then it was home again, home again jiggety-jog.
Once home I whizzed around at the speed of light (well, in my mind!) and got things ready for when Mich’, Robert and Josh’ arriving for brunch.
I mashed avocadoes, had los of baby spinach leaves, made a cheese sauce, grilled bacon and chipolatas (those small sausages that I lov, those weeny pork sausages), and I made toast and poached eggs. Everyone helped themselves to what they felt like and either had iced coffee or fresh orange juice to drink.
Then after our brunch we all headed into our bedroom as Ken had suggested to me the other day to move our room around to give us more room for our bedside tables as we don’t have any at the moment.
Wow! What a job! Poor Robert and Josh’ almost unzipped themselves moving those two cupboards as they were ever so heavy and had been sitting on that carpet for yonks, which meant they had to lift them up first in order to get them to slide. It was a mammoth job and I am so, so grateful to Mich’ (who also did a lot of the heave-ho-ing) and to Robert and Josh’ for doing that for us.
I think we will love our room arranged this way.
But … in order to move the cupboards everything had to come out – all the clothes, the drawers and even the sliding doors!
That means I will have to repack everything later as Ken crawled onto our bed as soon as Mich’, Robert and Josh’ left.
I managed to clean the kitchen nicely and left all the bedroom stuff to do later.
When they weres till here with us, I told Mich’ my long and very sad tale about my laptop and she came through to my study to see what was what. She said, “You know Mum I come across this often in my work in the support role, let me see if I can fix it for you …”
Guess what? She did! Hallelujah! I was so delighted I could hardly contain myself with the joy of having my laptop back in working order! Marvellous! I was almost (but not quite!) tempted to do flick-flack up and down our passage!
Ken slept until fairly late, so I left the tidying up of all ‘things bedroom’ for tomorrow! There is no rush and I have all the time in which to achieve that.
Tonight I watched the “Reveal” on the “The Block” – as I so enjoy this program on TV
What lesson did I learn today? Sometimes one has to create a huge mess in order to bring about order!
What am I grateful for today? To Mich’, Robert and Josh’ for moving our bedroom furniture around, as it was a grand mission accomplished!
My saying for today is …
