Blog for Sunday 4th January 2026

I woke up tired … tired … tired! I think I am far too active in my sleep to have a proper rest. Ken says I talk almost non-stop in my sleep, muttering technical things that he cannot follow! (which I am sure I could not either!) plus I am often physically active taking swings at my poor unsuspecting man who is fast asleep alongside me, or jumping up, thrashing about and blah-blah-fish paste! Ken says I have an over-active subconscious, but where the heck is the ‘Off’ button I ask you with tears in my eyes?

I was up early and had my Quiet Time before going downstairs to shower and get myself dressed for church. No duties today!

I woke Ken up at eight o’clock and Ken originally wanted to take the quad bike through to Wauchope, which meant we would go through to church in the ute’. But then when it came time for us to leave the skies opened up and the rain pelted down – little did we know that again it would only be for a short time. But Ken cancelled the idea of taking the quad bike through to town, so we went to church in my car.

We got to church on time too – miracles of miracles … and with a little fast driving from mwah!

I was surprised as there were a lot of people in church – often when it rains people stay at home instead of attending church they pinch a few extra minutes in bed! But our congregation are a good tribe of Baptists obviously!

After church we stopped at Ritchies as I needed to get a few supplies as Ken has asked a family out to visit us this week and I am sure they will stay for lunch. Hence the need for a few extra groceries. Plus, I bought Ken some iced coffee – his favorite drink. I got him a large one for home and a 750ml one to sip in the car as I drove us home.

Once home I set about unpacking the dishwasher, packing away the groceries and then doing some tacking on my little smocked dress. I needed to attach the lace to the sleeves, which I should have done before I smocked each sleeve, as it makes it pretty difficult to attach it afterwards because the edges are seriously frilled! Silly me, but I will get it on properly with much tongue waggling, muttering and patience!

Ken headed for bed as soon as we got home and I had a snap snooze of about ten minutes! Yes! What is that about people? I mean why can I not just sleep for an hour!

So, once I was awake again, I sat and watched masses of home renovations on my laptop – just dreaming, dreaming, dreaming.

I also checked on granny flats, tiny homes and so on – just fun to do!

We have had the odd storm whisk by, much thunder and sound effects but little rain falling, but hey! A little is better than nothing, not so?

At about half past four I went and sat outside for a bit to enjoy the breeze and to watch these crazy mixed up guinea fowl of ours. We have about thirty-eight of them now, I think, and they never cease to amuse me with their crazy bird-brain antics!

What lesson did I learn today? To dream and enjoy doing so!

What am I grateful for today? A quiet and gentle day at home.

My saying for today is …
