Blog for Sunday 8th February 2026

I rolled out of bed feeling a tad tired – I was yelling again last night, and Ken had to wake me up to stop me dreaming. Shame, poor guy he must dread going to sleep at night because he never knows what I will do – scream in his ear, try to whack him, or I may fall out of bed with a dreadful thud, blah blah fish paste. Not restful for the poor man! But … on the bright side, there is never a dull moment though!

I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time and watch the sun crawl up onto the sky from behind the distant hills. What a beautiful time of day to be awake.

Later I got together the papers I had to drop off with the previous SRE Co-Ordinator – he kindly offered to send the notifications to the schools for me as I have no scanner anymore. I printed all the notifications, and he scanned and emailed them for me.

I also took in with us this morning the fluffy little pink bunny wool bolero jersey I had knitted and made for Holly. Tsch! Rats! I forgot to take a photo of it – silly me!

Ken and I left the farm at a quarter to nine as we were on Tea Duty so needed to get to church earlier than normal. Plus, we had to stop to pick up some milk for that. We did and still managed to get to church before the service began!

I gave Holly her little jersey and she promptly put it on and wore it for the whole service with a smile that threatened to split her dear little face! To say that she weas thrilled would be an understatement of note!

Today was a first for me – we had a Christian comedian in the first part of our service! But oh, he was good and had us in stitches, but he had an incredible story to tell behind all those jokes, frivolity and laughter. I thoroughly enjoyed his talk it was inspirational.

Ken and I then served teas, coffees et cetera for the congregation before settling down to hear Tony’s sermon for the week.

After church we dropped off the papers with Will’ – the last SRE Co-Ordinator, and I made a pit stop at Ritchie’s to pick up a few groceries before heading home again.

Yoh! Another warm day for sure!

Once home Ken peeled off to snooze, Paddy came in a bit later from working outside and he decided to have a lie down to listen to his audio book, and I followed suit.

I lay down on the couch to listen to my audio book and soon I was pushing z’s around the room and not hearing the audio book continuing in my ears. When I woke up, I was several chapters into the books and had to re-wind it to where I knew what was happening. I got up and moved to one of the armchairs, got out my knitting and continued to listen to the book, but I fell asleep again! My goodness, gracious golly gee! I must have been tired from all the dreaming last night, I guess! Hmm, add to that age and heat and you got a good enough reason to be tired.

Paddy was soon up and outside doing all sorts of things – tidying and finishing things up before he leaves the farm tomorrow. He filled the water container (for fighting fires) that is on the tractor, put the fencing stuff back in the bottom shed and all those sorts of things before coming in and showering and slowing down for the evening.

We had lasagne with salad tonight and then it was off to bed for Paddy, then me, and a little later, Ken.

What lesson did I learn today? Little acts of kindness bless one incredibly – both the giver and the receiver!

What am I grateful for today? A lovely afternoon snooze.

My saying for today is …
