Blog for Thursday 12th February 2026

My day began only at about six o’clock this morning. Why? Because I battled to fall asleep last night and I also knew that Mich’ and Robert would be getting up at about six o’clock as they had LOT to do before leaving for Seal Rocks this morning and I did not want to disturb them any earlier than necessary.

The problem being that they are renovating two bathrooms upstairs where we all are – Robert. Mich’, Josh’, Paulina and mwah so there is stuff everywhere. Add to that, bedding for eight people in high-rise piles, clothes, food, deck chairs and all things needed for a long weekend at the beach! ‘Chaos’ was an apt description of that. mess before Robert packed it into his ute'.

Then at a quarter to eight the plumber arrived with all his equipment to work here for the day, and not long after the plumber, Simon arrived, Paddy called in to pick up my smocked dress for Zara, as he was flying down to Melbourne this afternoon to meet his little granddaughter at long last.

There seemed to be an awful lot of action happening everywhere at the same time somehow! I went downstairs to shower in Ethan’s bathroom and to get dressed and be out of the way before the plumber arrived.

Mich’ and Robert were the picture of action - sorting, packing and organising, but at the same time Simon, the plumber, needed Mich’s attention and input before he could start work! Oh, my goodness gracious golly gee! It was bedlam.

Then Mich’ and Robert had to leave before half past ten as they were picking up Robert’s cousins at the New Castle airport. They had flown down from Queensland to join them at Seal Rocks for the weekend. So, I waved a fond farewell to them (being Mich' and Robert) as they rushed off at speed.

Simon the plumber worked so neatly, cleaning up after any mess he had made – I was suitably impressed, but oh-dearie me – the noise! I levitated several times during the day at the sudden ear-splitting drilling sounds – at least it was forced sort of exercise for me!

Yoh! It was so noisy, but I am glad that he was able to do this over the weekend and while Mich’ and Robert are away as Mich’ definitely would not be able to work here when that noise is going on.

Josh’ and Paulina were busy for most of the day with their work – Josh’ working in Mich’ and Robert’s bedroom and Paulina in their room. I did a few rows of knitting but spent a lot of today catching up with transcribing the two books of the Bible that I am busy studying at the moment – Daneil and Exodus. I got a lot of work done on that.

Just for a change, and because I wanted to spoil Josh’ and Paulina by ordering in a meal, so I asked Josh’ to choose a restaurant and order take-aways for the three of us. They chose an Indian restaurant, and we had some delicious Butter Chicken and Lamb Massaman with savory rice and Naan bread. It was really nice and we were smacking our lips and rolling our eyes with delight, as we chomped our way through these wonderful dishes. Very nice!

We were so disappointed as we thought our program was on TV, tonight but alas we got our days wrong! Instead, because Paulina was still trying to wrap up her work before joining Mich; and Robert at Seal Rocks for the weekend, Josh’ and I watched on TV those four guys who play tricks on each other – such belly wobbling laughter ensued as we watched them and their nonsense! It was great as I so enjoy laughing!

At about nine o’clock I said, “Good Night!” to both Josh’ and Paulin and headed for my bed.

Tonight, I am sleeping in Mich’ and Robert’s large bed, and Savvy joined me, tucking herself around my feet. The two of us were soon fast asleep.

It had been a good but busy and extremely noisy day.

What lesson did I learn today? It is good that the noise, sound and mess of renovations are only temporary, or craziness would follow!

What am I grateful for today? The luxury of being able to order take-away curries.

My saying for today is …
