Wow! Happy New Year everyone – may this be the best year yet!
I woke up really late this morning as I tried to stay up last night but only managed to stay up until not long after 11pm – such a flaker! I made the mistake of relaxing in one of our leather Lazi-boy armchairs and watching some movies, so soon my eyelids got very heavy and slammed shut!
Actually, I watched a really lovely movie – well, I thoroughly enjoyed it – on Netflix, called “Head Full of Honey” with Nick Nolte as the main actor. I laughed and cried in this movie – as it was just a beautiful movie about an elderly man with Alzheimer’s.
Yoh! It feels strange typing the year now – 2026, as it feels like I had just got used to typing 2025 and then it was gone!
I fed the guinea fowl and chooks – and gave them water to drink too. Then I checked the rain gauge – as there was a misty drizzle when I got up this morning – to see if anything recorded. Y-e-s! We had 2mm of rain this morning – how marvelous is that! Paddy’s trees will be so happy.
Thankfully today has been cooler and rather overcast – so no scorching sun blazing down on the newly planted trees.
Today I took my day slowly and gently. I set up my Bible Reading Plans for 2026 and my Prayer Journals too. That took me ages to do. I have decided that for the first six months of 2026 I will read through the New Testament and journal my findings.
Then I read the first three chapters of the Gospel of Matthew and made comments and wrote out specific prayers et cetera.
Then I cleaned and cleared up the mess on our living area floor – from when Ken was endeavoring to sort out the kitchen sink not draining properly yesterday or rather last night. Done. All clean and put back into their right places.
I have also joined an online reading group and downloaded the ‘Books to Read for 2026’. The lady I am following has set goals that are quite possible to achieve, and she has two little toddlers at home, so I should be able to keep up with her! I just need to be more disciplined about my reading time and make the time to do so.
Suddenly the first day of 2026 trickled out and was no more.
It was time to slow down and relax and enjoy the evening.
Tonight, as we are still trying to consume leftovers, I made mashed avo on toast with sour cream on top of that, followed by a mild salsa and the top layer was hot savoury mince. It was very nice.
What lesson did I learn today? To plan my goals for the year, write them down and begin to do them.
What am I grateful for today? A very quiet and cooler day to begin this new year.
My saying for today is …
