I arose from a tangle of sheets, duvet and one little dog at four this morning feeling pretty crumpled myself! Yes, I had been dreaming again and yelling in my poor man’s ear. I feel dreadful that I put him through all that almost every night. I would stop it if I could, but I do not seem to be able to!
We had to go through to town today which was a bit of a pain as I had so much to do at home, but it will have to wait until I come home again.
We left the farm late this morning – I think it was closer to eleven o’clock as Ken was battling tiredness, poor guy. I am not surprised as I keep him awake most nights.
I had a parcel to pick up in Long Flat, but as we were in the ute’ I decided to pick it up on our way home later. There is little room in the ute’ cab for excess baggage and normally I am packed in with whatever, like a sardine!
First stop was to drop off and pick up another large gas bottle – that is why we went to town in the ute’ – but the place Ken normally got it from has since stopped trading in gas! Wonderful! But Ken knew another place to get it from – so we set sail for that place and got another gas bottle there.
Then we headed into Port Macquarie to Settlement City. I left Ken in the food court, and I went to ‘Just Cuts’ and put my name down in the queue. I had a 70 - 80-minute wait to get my hair cut, so I returned to Ken and the two of us had lunch together while I waited.
Good! Hair cut – feeling lighter in the head area and not so fluffy anymore. Gone were my Einstein locks and looks!
We called in at Australia Hearing as I needed more cleaning brushes and blah blah fish paste.
It was time to start heading home and of course we were in the middle of the school traffic coming out of Port’ so Ken's patience was s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d as he battled to get us out of town.
Ken needed more prescriptions so he popped into the chemist in Wauchope, and while I was sitting in the ute’ waiting for him I saw two teenagers that I taught at Long Flat School and we had a brief chat – such nice kids.
We had to pick up some lick blocks for the cattle and then it was home again, home again jiggety-jog!
I love the way our dogs always give us a royal welcome home – running to greet us and then waiting for us at the top of the hill. I almost hear a trumpet announcing our arrival! And Raafie was leaping great leaps at the glass front door, unable to contain his delight that we were home. Yes, I feel loved and welcome!
Once home I began to sort out the clothes I needed to pack but will do that in the early morning.
I boiled the eggs and mashed them and will make the egg sandwiches in the early morning for our Bible Study Group’s teatime. I would like to make something different, but the group have voted my egg sarmies in! So, egg sandwiches are still on the menu!
Normally, I leave our home spic and span, but this time there just is not enough of me to do so. It will still be waiting for me when I get home next week, so I must not fret over what I cannot do.
I was soon tucked up in bed and was fast asleep long before Ken headed to bed.
What lesson did I learn today? There are times that I cannot do everything I want to do.
What am I grateful for today? The 4.5mm of rain we got yesterday.
My saying for today is …
