Blog for Tuesday 1st September 2026

Wow! A brand-new month arrived at our front door in the wee hours of today! How wonderful. And … spring is in the air – tra-la-lah - it is warmer and getting lighter earlier too. Apparently, the weathermen have predicted a pretty warm day here today and an even warmer one tomorrow – up to 27℃ tomorrow! Yahee!

I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my yesterday’s blog and checked my emails before showering and getting dressed for our Bible study Group morning.

Ken and I left home at about a quarter past nine and headed for the church. Today there were several members missing for a variety of reasons – but there were still eight of us anyway.

Keith took the morning and he supplied us with excellent study notes for a really good lesson today on the prophet Elijah – very interesting, and it was enjoyed by us all.

We handed in our apologies for next week Bible Study Group meeting as we will be away on the farm, but I will ask Mariekie to keep the notes for us from that meeting.

From church Ken and I headed for Aldis as Ken wanted his choc-chop cookies and he only likes their ones, so we swung past there and Ken went in to get them.

Then we made another stop at the Salvos shop where I dropped off all the scarves that I no longer use and that were just taking up precious space.

What a stunningly beautiful day for our first day of spring. So, when we got home, I went and sat outside for half an hour just to enjoy the sunshine. It was lovely just sitting out there watching the birds flutter in or fly over. I am amazed at the bird activity around us as I never dreamt it was so vibrant.

Then it was time to come back inside and do some work – ironing, and lots of it! Urgh! But with the aid of listening to an audio book while I did that – it acted as a distraction – sort of – and then I get a lot of ironing done without even realizing it!

Yes-yes! I am easily fooled!

In the late afternoon I put out some nibblies as Mich’ was popping over for a chat and a drink, and for me to show her which plants I would like her to water while we are away and how often. I also took out the paint, brush et cetera of hers as she wants to paint the ceiling in the bathroom a fairly deep shade of grey to disguise the pipes. It is something she has been wanting to do for a long time and with us away it is just easier for her to do so. (This unit it one of their properties.)

It was nice to have Mich’ across here with us as Robert is in Melbourne on business for the next few days, unfortunately Josh’ was unable to come too as he has a massive test to write tomorrow, so he was head down and swotting seriously.with me

After Mich’ left to go home Ken and I watched another episode of “Clarkson’s Farm” together. I am so happy that Ken is enjoying watching it – he is the one asking me to come and watch it!

Late this afternoon, before I started to get things ready for Mich’s visit, I discovered that I was one thread out on my cross-stitch pattern! Yes, one thread, but hoo-boy, that can make a terrible difference, so … as you do … I unpicked the offending stitches until I found the one little stitch that had caused the problem, and now I can go ahead knowing all is again well! It can happen so easily as the fabric is very fine and one has to count threads continually to follow the pattern. MUCH patience is needed and good eye sight.

Today I sent text messages to our friends up in Wauchope and surrounds, telling, or rather warning them all that we are going up to the farm and would love to see them all, some will be away but there is always next time.

After Ken and I had watched one episode of “Clarkson’s Farm” we headed for bed.

What lesson did I learn today? More patience!

What am I grateful for today? A beautiful day for the first day of spring.
