It is a “Happy Birthday Robert!” to day – Robert being one of our three sons-in-law. I phoned him later in the morning as it is his birthday after all, no need to wake the man up when I got up!
I can honestly tell you that I did not bounce out of bed smiling at four o’clock this morning, Nah, it was more like a shuffle with eyes still closed that happened!
I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, and I am so enjoying going through the Bible – the Two-Year course – again. Tony Perkins is really good as the commentator, but not too heavy, nor too long.
Yoh! I spent half the day sorting out, sending out invoices and SRE Authorization Forms to the powers that be. I am delighted to have done that, and the envelopes are addressed. So, all I have to do now is buy the stamps and post them! Hallelujah!
I then sorted through all the bumph on my desk – only to discover that my little car is due – well, actually is now overdue rego! Oh rats!
Luckily, our mechanic has squeezed me in, so I can get the pink slip, on Thursday. I already have the green slip, so all will soon be well again. Bless that man for squeezing me in.
Lesson Learnt! Check the papers on your desk daily, Gail Morgan!
I contacted all our members in our Bible Study Group, and we are going to start up our weekly meetings again tomorrow. We will continue our study on the Book of Daniel, picking up from where we left off just before Christmas holidays.
Yahee! I am happy to be getting together again as we truly have such a nice group, and I have missed our weekly get-togethers.
I cleaned out the fridge at the back of the main shed area, so it looks a lot healthier, thank goodness. There was nothing grey and hairy in it, but it really needed some TLC done.
In the late afternoon I also finished sorting the stuff I had for secondhand shops or to be thrown out, that were on the floor in our bedroom. I still have one more pile to go through and then our bedroom will be done. How wonderful that will be! But … Ken still has to sort out his bedside drawer and his cupboard with everything from books, medals, badges, scrapbooks, medicines and blah blah blah fish paste, as we differ on what we think is “precious’! His clothes cupboard I have already done.
This afternoon I printed out more forms – forms that both Ken and I need to do yesterday! Like a ‘Guide to Advanced Care Planning in NSW’ – “Dying with Dignity”. Forms that need to be done, but it can be a bit confronting thinking about dying now – but I guess none of us will be getting out of here alive, and we are in our eighties, so best to address that now before we pop our clogs!
Peter came in for a coffee after working up in Tamryn’s container for the day. He then tried to fix our safety door, which has not been working for forever and a day, but he has promised to return on Friday to pop-rivet this and there, here and there, and get it working well. That will be good.
I made up the three beds in the main shed with new sheets and clean towels as Paddy and Tamryn will be arriving late on Thursday night for a few days on the farm. It will be nice to have them back here again.
Tonight, I am grilling thin slices of steak and will serve them with sliced tomatoes, onions and cheese and toast them. Something I think Ken will enjoy as he does not want much to eat in the evenings.
What lesson did I learn today? To put one foot in front of the other even when I do not feel like crawling, and to check the papers on my desk daily!
What am I grateful for today? The rain.
My saying for today is …
