Blog for Tuesday 22nd April 2025

We had 4.5mm of rain overnight.

I was awake at three o’clock this morning but remained ensconced in bed until about half past three as it was chilly out, and our bed was so nice and toasty!

I had my Quiet Time out in our living area and had my little heater blowing on my feet as I was feeling that nip in the air this morning for sure.

Once Ken was up and had spoken to his specialist this morning, I decided I would go into Wauchope as Ken needed two of his prescriptions re-filled. I was also concerned that if we did indeed get more rain this week, that we may run out of dog food. So, I got some more food for them just in case.

The roads today were busy and so was Wauchope, but luckily, I was able to get in and out quickly. In fact, I did  not see one person that I knew, which was unusual.

Unfortunately for me, I got stuck in the river several times when crossing to go out. The reason being that there are several rather large boulders on our crossing since the last flood, and when driving across with the sun shining on the water one cannot see where they are. So, with a few forward and reverse gears and some very loud prayers I managed to get across. Shoo! Talk about shredded nerves and all that.

While I was in town, I picked up an iced coffee for Ken as that is his favorite drink. I also bought us some cinnamon rolls, which were ever so yummy.

Today, I am extra tired – maybe I was overactive in my sleep last night, I am not sure, but I decided to just stroll through today and tomorrow I can sort out those two large wooden boxes.  Not today!

Today I read, crocheted, studied and listened to my audio book.

I am happy to report that my man did his exercises this morning and I will make sure he keeps that up as he will be the one blessed by doing them. Plus, there are not hundreds that he has to do, just a few very simple ones to get his hip moving smoothly again.

I finished my audio book this afternoon, - I only had three short chapters to go, and I lay down to listen to them nog al – feeling very lazy with energy tank registering zero!

Tonight, Ken has a choice of chicken, veggies, mashed potatoes, lasagna or boerewors – just leftovers to finish off. Tomorrow I will make a lamb chops dish of some sort with vegetables. I want Ken to eat good, healthy food so he recuperates quickly. Paddy also bought him some Sustagen, which Ken is having in the mornings, again to speed his recovery.

What lesson did I learn today? Not to panic when stuck in the river, but to reverse and keep trying to get unstuck!

What am I grateful for today? That I crossed the river to and from town safely.

My saying for today is …
