I battled to surface through the layers and layers of sleep when I heard my alarm clock this morning. But I did.
It is one of our grandnephew’s birthdays to day – he is turning the grand sum of ten years old. “Happy birthday Lochie, have a good one!”
I made myself a coffee - yes, I am back to my old habits again! I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, upload my blog, answer emails and plan my day.
This morning, we have our Bible Study Group and Ian is leading it, so I did not have to do any work for it which was lovely. Not that I do not enjoy doing any of the work, because I really do, but sometimes I just get tired.
After our Bible Study Group this morning we planned to go into town to do a few things, and then hopefully from this afternoon, or the latest tomorrow morning, I need to work on the Cattle Movement Chart for Ren’.
We had such a lovely time together this morning - just the eight of us at our Bible Study Group, and as normal with plenty of eats for our teatime. None of us in this group will ever suffer any starvation!
Yikes! That is when some of them told me that they still have not received my birthday party invitation! Shoo! that caused me a moment of panic as I then had no idea who had or who had not received invitations! I decided then and there that as soon as we got back home from town, I would have to contact everyone to make sure that they had received an invite. Oh, Jiminy Cricket!
So, Ken and I whipped around town, but managed to find time to have a thick shake! (As you do!)
But we really tried to do what we had to do and get back home as soon as possible.
Yahee! I managed to order the cake (for Mich’) as I wanted to show the bakery what we wanted and Mich’ is so far away and it was not possible for her to do that.
Just thinking about my birthday – today in the post I received a lovely letter of congratulations on achieving my 80 years from Michael Kemp MP for Oxley, from the parliament of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia – all in gold foil lettering and awfully official like! I feel quite famous although I really have done nothing but live!

I was really touched by the recognition though - “Thank you Michael Kemp!”
Once home, Ken headed off to have his snooze, and I headed off to send my birthday invitations out again! I mean my party is in ten days – so that does not allow people much time to make up their minds!
I can only do my best, but am non-plussed as to what happened – why some invitations were sent, and others were never received? At least I have managed to try to repair that problem hopefully.
Ken got up at five o’clock so he will be fairly late in getting back here after letting the cattle in and out of the Pteridium Camp – something he has been doing for a while to prevent them getting bloat from overeating the clover in that camp.
Today has been a brilliant day – hot but with a nice breeze. I enjoyed sitting outside for a little while to watch our crazy guinea fowl, just enjoy the fresh air and nature around me.
This evening, I will begin to work on the Annual Cattle Movement Chart and try to get it done over the next few days if there are no interruptions. That will be good.
Tonight, for our meal we will be having savory mince on toast as we both want something light but filling, and I think that will do the trick!
What lesson did I learn today? How good are belly laughs with friends.
What am I grateful for today? Our good friends.
My saying for today is …
