Blog for Wednesday 28th October 2026

The new day arrived - but with it came the realisation that our cruise was coming to an end. Aaaaaah! But instead of weeping or muttering about that, I will choose to be happy for what we have experienced – a marvellous time on the ocean, to enjoy the beauty around us, incredible food, wonderful weather, excellent service, meeting new people and time to relax unbelievably!
This morning, I was awake very early checking that I had packed everything, then I showered and dressed before waking Ken up.
Ken was not interested in getting up and that almost caused me to panic – imagining us being the only passengers not getting off the ship blah blah fish paste! Not a good feeling.
But … my man eventually got up … unwillingly but he got up! Hurray for him as he had apparently had a terrible night sleep and was ever so tired still!
Then it was time to line up with the other three thousand odd passengers to get off our wonderful ship – how sad!
I watched the queue shuffled slowly forwards to what? I shall never know but I silently wished them well and to a happy home coming - wherever and whenever.
For the amount of passengers onboard, honestly things rolled along well, and that after our ship was late in entering Sydney Harbor which caused a delay as they had to get permission to come in, and for that we had to wait a while for.
Robert, our son-in-law, bless him had driven into Sydney to pick us up so I kept texting him to let him know how we were progressing off the ship, and eventually out we popped with all our suitcases and paraphernalia!
Robert’s timing was spot on and with a one-two-three we we in and our luggage packed and we were heading home again!
On our way home we got to chat to Mich’ who welcomed us back and we hoped to see her later after her work.
On arriving home, we got to see the concreting that Robert had done when the concrete driveway had to be dug up to find a water leak before we left – and he has done an excellent job.
Robert is also in the process of putting up a storage shed on the property and he is making headway with that project. In fact, he dropped us and came back later today to work on it. Shame, and it was so hot out there, so I tried to keep him “watered” with cokes and iced water.
Look at what met me at our front door – a splash of brilliant colour!

Sorry about the wheelbarrow and wheelie bin in the photo – that is stuff that Robert was using.
It was good to be home again and to see that Mich’ had managed to keep all my indoor plants well-watered. “Thanks so much darling!”
On arriving home Ken headed off to have a sleep. and I unpacked our bags and began the loads and loads of washing, which I hung out to dry in the brilliant hot sunshine.
While I was waiting for each load to finish, I watched – or tried to watch and catch up with the episodes of “The Block” that I had missed while we had been away.
The whole of today I have been battling the sea legs thing – everything rocks which is the weirdest feeling. I feel permanently off-balance!
Robert came back at about two o’clock and worked like a Trojan getting the foundations of the shed dug, measured and done.
Then at about six o’clock Mich’ arrived bringing iced coffee for Ken, some savoury biscuits and some cooked chook for us – just in case we did not have anything to eat in our home.
It was so nice to catch up with the two of them and when they left both Ken and I headed for bed.
I was asleep standing alongside the bed I reckon!
What lesson did I learn today? Not to panic but to take deep breaths and not panic!
What am I grateful for today? This magnificent cruise that we got to experience.
My saying for today is …
