I woke up in our own bed and at home – how lovely!

I had given my alarm a whack earlier, in case it was thinking of disturbing my peaceful sleep, I rolled over and only got out of bed at five o’clock!

Today I was determined to walk through my day gently, the odd thought of maybe doing the ironing flitted across my mind briefly but it was immediately dismissed as utter foolishness!

Aha! Still in cruise mode Gail Morgan!

Instead, today I uploaded all my blogs from our trip – which took me forever and a day to do, but … they are now done. I also sorted out emails – something that I had not done for a few days and they mount up quickly.

Then I got out one of the magazines I had here and combed it for a recipe for me to try to make for our meal tonight. I often use the Coles monthly magazine looking for new recipes.

Then I worked on a list of groceries that I needed to get for our home. On the top of the list was Wild Bird Seed as I finished the bag this morning. The birds know we are back home, and at first light this morning I could hear them chirping and waiting for me to put out more seed and the bread.

When I opened the front door early this morning – there were Mr. and Mrs. Quack – the duck couple from the Japanese Gardens across the road from us – sitting waiting for me to put seed  and bread out for them.

Tonight I made a Ginger Pork and Wonton Noodle Stir-Fry which was delicious. I have never used wontons before, but I was really impressed with them, and the flavor of this dish was excellent. Ken loved it too. So, it’s a keeper! I only used 500g pork stir-fry, and it made four large, healthy helpings easily when added to the other ingredients.

Today I also weakened and bought a tub of ice cream – vanilla with chocolate cookies – as it was something that Ken so enjoyed on our cruise and he was delighted.

In the late afternoon I watched the last episode of “The Block” as I think the auction of those five beautifully decorated homes takes place maybe this Sunday or Monday. What a journey for the five couples who have taken part in this series!

This Sunday I am teaching Sunday School in Mich’ and Robert’s church with Mich’ and a young guy called Mitch. I am looking forward to doing that as we are now going to be teaching the Primary School aged children, which is more of a challenge that being with the littlies – toddlers to kindergarten age.

Mich’ and Robert are hoping to be here this weekend, working on erecting their storage shed to the left of the driveway here. So, I think I will create a nice lunch for the four of us as it hard and hot work out there. We can all sit outside at our outdoor table and chair set and have lunch in the shade where it is lovely and cool and they can take a break.

Ken is going up to the farm with Matt’ for a few days – leaving here maybe Sunday or Monday, and as yet. Ken is not sure how long he will be away. That will be so nice for him to see what Paddy has been doing on the farm and to spend some time with him too. Just a ‘boys weekend’ away. Nice.

I watch how hard Mich’ and Robert work (as do all our children and grandchildren) and I have decided that I can help a little by making a few meals per week for them, as they are renovating homes in between working full-time, putting up a storage shed and erecting storage racks for us too down the side of our unit! There is just no down time for them at all. Plus, there are five – and sometimes six - of them living at home!

So, I asked Mich’ if I can make some slow-cooker meals for them – enough for four nights and the other nights they can have something light – a salad, wraps, toasties and blah-blah-blah fish paste. She was delighted and is happy to provide the ingredients I will need if I make their meals. Deal done!

Paddy contacted me a couple of times today – merging three phone calls together, so that I could give permission to the powers that be in Telstra and the White Pages to cancel the account which has not been used for yonks. Oh, my goodness gracious! WHAT a tah-doo! Now, the “specialist” will contact Paddy to carry this cancellation out. Why? When? or What the problem is, we have yet to discover. It is a simple cancellation of charge for having one’s name in the White Pages directory. We (the farm) has not used that land line for ages so why would we want it listed still? Whatever! Paddy has to wait for the “specialist” to contact him. And it was an error caused by me that is giving Paddy the headache – sorry Paddy!

Slowly today leaked away and night rushed across the sky.

It was time to climb into bed and sleep. Marvellous!

What lesson did I learn today? No need to iron today I can do it tomorrow!

What am I grateful for today? Settling back home again after being away for two weeks.

My saying for today is …
